Patent number: 11382617Abstract: A suture attaching station attaches a needle and a suture to form a single combination. The setup of the crimping unit is facilitated by using an offline measuring fixture. The offline measuring fixture is calibrated by placing a precision gage block into the measuring fixture and then zeroing a digital measuring unit. The gage block is then replaced by the desired crimping die and the reading is noted as an offset for the servo drive of the suture attaching station. This offset is used to set the zero point of the crimping die centre.Type: GrantFiled: September 9, 2019Date of Patent: July 12, 2022Assignee: Harro Höfliger Verpackungsmaschinen GmbHInventors: Clifford Dey, Ingmar Neff, Sven Brecht

Patent number: 8383030Abstract: Apparatus and method for making a plurality of different types of suture packages employ a mold with first and second opposing mold parts partially defining a mold cavity, at least one of the opposing mold parts has an opening therein communicating with the mold cavity. An insert is removeably inserted into the opening, to complete the mold cavity in a form suitable for molding a first type of suture package. An alternative insert is interchangeable with the first insert for completing the mold cavity in a form suitable for molding a second type of suture package. To make different suture packages, the mold is initially configured and used with one of the inserts to thereby make one type of suture package. The first insert is then replaced with the second, changing the mold cavity to form another type of suture package.Type: GrantFiled: May 7, 2010Date of Patent: February 26, 2013Assignee: Ethicon, Inc.Inventors: Robert James Cerwin, Clifford A.
