    Abstract: A pre-cocking assembly for an archery bow includes an elongated rod pivotally attached at one end to the riser of a bow, a spring-biased head member rotatably mounted on the other end of the rod, and a spring-biased bowstring retaining member attached to the head member. The retaining member may be positioned to intercept the bowstring when the bowstring is partially drawn, and hold it in that position. When the bowstring is further drawn to fire the arrow, the head member rotates to reposition the bowstring retaining member to a retracted position.
