  • Patent number: 5199634
Abstract: An interlocking container and lid combination is disclosed for storage of bottles and the like. The interlocking combination includes a reusable rectangular container provided with an integral lip along the upper edge of the container sides. A flap integrally formed with and extending vertically down from the lip at each end of the container and having a slot therein forms handles. A lid, preferably made of cardboard, includes a central portion and opposed side flaps foldable with respect to the central portion along fold lines. Each end of the flaps are extended by tabs which are spaced a distance slightly greater than the width of the lip. The opposed ends of the lid are extended by end flaps integrally formed with, and bendable with respect to, the central portion along fold lines. The slots in the lid flaps are in registration with the slots in the container handles when the lid is secured to the container. The end flaps include tabs extending the opposed sides.
