Abstract: This invention relates to the preparation of antihalation layers for photographic film. The invention is an improved process for the preparation of colloidal manganese dioxide dispersions adapted for use in antihalation layers, the process comprising adding a reducing agent to an aqueous solution comprising a water soluble permanganate salt and a dispersing agent, the improvement wherein said dispersing agent is a water soluble polymer selected from the group consisting of water soluble carboxylated acrylic polymers, water soluble styrene/acrylic copolymers, and water soluble alpha-methyl styrene/acrylic copolymers.

Abstract: Electrographic recording element with reduced humidity sensitivity comprising(1) a base, e.g., paper, polymer film,(2) a conductive layer of a continuous coating of an electroconductive composition comprising(a) polymeric binder,(b) electroconductive powder comprising amorphous silica or a silica-containing material in association with a two-dimensional network of antimony-containing tin oxide crystallites in which the antimony content ranges from 1 to about 30% by weight of tin oxide; and(3) a dielectric layer.Mixtures of two or more different sized electroconductive powder particles can be used.The electrographic recording element is useful for recording high-speed computer element, e.g., in geophysical mapping, weather map printing, architectural and engineering drawings, etc.

Abstract: An electron beam recording film comprising a support bearing, in order,(A) a sputtered layer of indium-ion oxide, and(B) a gelatino silver halide emulsion layer, e.g., silver iodobromide, crosslinked with 2 to 10% by weight based on the weight of gelatin in the emulsion layer of a Cr.sup.+3 -containing compound, e.g., chrome alum, chromic choloride, etc.Optionally other layers can be present in the film, e.g., crosslinked gelatin overcoat, subbing layer on support, titanium oxide layer on the indium-tin oxide layer.
