    Abstract: A locking assembly for utility meter boxes is disclosed, the assembly designed for connection to the meter box at the latch portion or the point of access to the box. The assembly has a bracket member for connection to the meter box and a cover member for engaging the bracket member and forming an enclosure around the point of access. A lock retaining member is disposed within this enclosure for engaging and retaining a lock therein, thereby preventing unauthorized removal of the cover member.

    Abstract: A tamper-resistant removable cover for a utility meter box assembly is disclosed, having a plate member with depending flange portions which engage the securing flange or ring normally used to secure a translucent cover over the viewing window or socket of the meter box. The cover provides a high degree of security for meter boxes, reducing theft of services and/or vandalism that is encountered with conventional methods of securing such boxes. The present cover may use the existing securing device or devices on the box or may be provided with fasteners to engage a portion of the box.

    Abstract: A barrel lock assembly for use in securing a lock housing over the latch or access point of a securable enclosure, such as a utility meter box, is disclosed, having a bar member with a stop on the distal end for engaging a surface on the lock housing or on the enclosure to be secured. A second bar member is disposed parallel to the first and has a head portion which receives the proximal end of the first bar member. The head and the first bar member have axially aligned apertures for receiving a suitable padlock and holding the assembly together.
