  • Patent number: 4711032
Abstract: A portable sawmill (20) having a frame (22) adapted to be disposed transversely of a log (24). A pair of horizontally spaced apart wheels (26a,b) are adapted to straddle the log (24). The wheels (26a,b) are rotatably supported by the frame (22) for rotation in a substantially vertical plane. A band saw blade (28) is trained around the wheels (26a,b) and for movement transversely of the log (24). An engine (30) is provided for rotating at least one of the wheels (26a,b) to cause the band saw blade (28) to form a cut in the log (24) as the frame (22) is moved longitudinally along the log (24). An elevating assembly (44) is provided for supporting the frame (22) so as to enable vertical adjustment of the band saw blade (28) relative to a top surface of the log (24). Guide rollers (40) are interconnected through the frame (22) for guiding the frame (22) along the log (24).

  • Patent number: 4452117
Abstract: A motorized saw for cross-cutting and mitering elongated workpieces mounted for sliding movement on a pair of spaced parallel guide rods supported by spaced trunnions attached to the ends of a support arm. The support arm is rotatably mounted intermediate its ends on a frame and has a worktable fixed thereon which includes a cutting channel that defines the pathway of travel of the saw. A pair of aligned fence members have their adjacent ends disposed in close proximity with the cutting channel and by means of a link rod operatively connected to each fence member and support arm, the fence members automatically adjust themselves to the cutting channel on selective movement of the support arm to a position for effecting a desired angle cut by the saw.

  • Patent number: 4015308
Abstract: A floor care appliance is provided in which suction pressure (vacuum) of cleaner suction air may be discretely modified in a series of steps by selective stages of bleed of atmospheric air into the dirt-collecting bag containing partial vacuum chamber. A multi-pushbutton ensemble activates directly, movable valve members, permanently attached to pushbuttons, which port or close off or obstruct an aperture in the housing or a tunnel arrangement leading to the aperture and communicating with ambient air pressure.
