    Abstract: The present invention provides a method of depleting methionine in the plasma of an individual in need of such treatment, comprising the steps of: administering to said individual a pharmacologically effective amount of a methionine scavenger; and treating said individual with homocystine. Also provided is a method of method of treating a methionine-dependent tumor in an individual in need of such treatment, comprising the steps of: administering to said individual a pharmacologically effective amount of a methionine synthetase inhibitor; treating said individual with homocystine while depriving dietary methionine, homocysteine and choline; and administering to said individual a pharmacologically effective amount of an anti-neoplastic alkylating agent.
