  • Publication number: 20090314856
Abstract: A dispensing closure for a squeeze-type container produces a fan-type spray in a low pressure environment. The dispensing closure includes a closure body having an upper deck and a skirt depending from the upper deck. The skirt is configured and arranged to attach to a product container, such as a squeeze-type container. A flow conduit extends from an interior of the closure body and through the upper deck to provide a flow path from an interior of the closure to an exterior of the closure. The flow conduit has an entrance orifice and an exit orifice. The flow conduit has an inner wall extending between the entrance orifice and the exit orifice. The flow conduit and the closure body are integrally formed. The flow conduit includes a tip portion with an exit orifice defining a shape to provide a fan-type spray in a low pressure environment.

  • Publication number: 20080054026
Abstract: A dispensing closure for viscous fluids contains a closure body, a closure lid and a living hinge structure hingeably connecting the closure lid to the closure body. The closure body includes an upper deck, a skirt configured and arranged to mount to a product container, and a flow conduit extending through the upper deck to provide a flow path from an interior of the closure to an exterior of the closure. The flow conduit includes an entrance orifice and an exit orifice, and an inner wall extending between the entrance orifice and the exit orifice. To provide the desired flow effect, the inner wall includes at least one flow inhibitor structure, such as helically threaded flights extending at least partially inwardly from the inner wall into the flow path to define an unobstructed central flow path and a partially obstructed peripheral flow path.

  • Publication number: 20080035681
Abstract: A dispensing closure for a container is disclosed. The dispensing closure includes a closure body including an upper wall having a dispensing orifice. The closure body further includes an upper peripheral skirt depending from the upper wall, a closure deck depending from the upper peripheral skirt, and a lower peripheral skirt depending from the closure deck. The lower peripheral skirt has a diameter larger than the upper peripheral skirt. The lower peripheral skirt is configured to be mounted on a container. A cap having an upper wall and a wall flange depends from the upper wall. A hinge body is also included. A first living hinge joins a first end of the hinge body to the lower peripheral skirt and is hingeably movable from an open position to a closed position in facing mating relation with the upper peripheral skirt. The hinge body and the upper peripheral skirt include interfitting mating formations to secure the hinge body in facing mating relation with the upper peripheral skirt.

  • Patent number: 7322493
Abstract: A dispensing closure for a container comprising a closure body adapted to be mounted on the container. The closure body has a dispensing orifice and a sealing cap. A pair of adjacently spaced living hinges connect the sealing cap to the closure body for movement between an open and a closed position. The closure body and sealing cap have sealing elements that provide a complete peripheral seal between the sealing cap and the closure body when in the closed position. The sealing cap has a camming lug located between the living hinges, and contacting the sealing elements on the closure body without impairing the integrity of the sealing elements, and further provides a snap-action to the movement of the sealing cap from the open to the closed position.

  • Publication number: 20070241075
Abstract: The present invention provides a dispensing closure and label system that provides a clear indication of prior opening directly at the point of application of force to open the closure. More specifically, the system includes a dispensing closure containing a closure body, a living hinge, and a lid. The closure body further includes a downwardly depending skirt. The lid includes a downwardly depending sidewall that is provided with a protruding thumb tab that extends downwardly beyond a parting line of the lid and the closure body. A label wraps around the skirt and container neck. The label also overlaps that portion of the thumb tab that extends downward below the parting line of the closure lid and closure body. In this regard, when the thumb tab is lifted to open the container, the paper label is ripped in the area of the thumb tab to evidence opening thereof.

  • Publication number: 20070138124
Abstract: A dispensing closure for a container includes a closure body, a cap and a hinge body joining the cap to the body. The closure body includes an upper wall having an orifice and further includes an upper skirt depending from the upper wall, and a lower skirt depending from the upper skirt. The lower skirt has a diameter larger than the upper skirt. The cap has an upper wall and a wall flange depending therefrom. A first living hinge joins a first end of the hinge body to the lower skirt. The hinge body is movable from an open position to a closed position in mating relation with the upper skirt. The hinge body and upper skirt are formed with complementary surfaces to provide a flush outer surface contour when mated together. The hinge body and upper skirt further include mating formations to secure the hinge body with the upper skirt.

  • Publication number: 20060011667
Abstract: The dispensing closure for a container for dispensing a liquid contained therein, includes a closure body adapted to be mounted on the container. The closure body has an upper wall and a skirt depending downwardly therefrom and a dispensing orifice positioned thereon. A tubular flow modulating structure depends downwardly from the upper wall of the closure body. The tubular flow modulating structure has an inner surface configured and arranged to control the flow of liquid through the dispensing orifice and includes at least one dependent capillary slot. Optionally, the dispensing closure further includes a syneresis capture structure depending downwardly from the upper wall to prevent syneresis fluid from flowing through the dispensing orifice during the dispensing of the liquid contained within the container.

  • Publication number: 20050061765
Abstract: A dispensing closure, including a horizontal deck, an aperture through the deck, and a collar depending below the aperture in the deck, is snapped over an annular bead on the neck of a molded plastic bottle. A stop wall, comprising a pair of ribs mounted for pivotal movement, is formed in the interior of the body of the closure; a gap is centrally located between the ribs. A radially projecting lug, which is triangular when viewed in side elevation, is formed on the sloping collar of the container; a dovetailed segment is defined at the free end of the lug. The collar on the closure has interrupted beads, so that the dispensing closure is secured to the container by snapping the interrupted beads over the annular bead on the neck of the container. The ribs of the stop wall flex pivotally outwardly when contacting the outer end of the lug.
