  • Publication number: 20240024581
Abstract: The bioinjection device has a housing including a pistol grip and an elongated barrel. A trigger is pivotally mounted to the housing. An inner shaft having a distal end is slidable between a first position in which the distal end of the inner shaft is disposed in the barrel and a second position in which the distal end of the inner shaft extends past an opening in the end of the barrel. A tip containing a medicament is disposed about the opening of the elongated barrel. The tip includes at least one aperture for dispensing the medicament. One can inject the medicament from the tip into a bone fracture or degenerative bone tissue during surgery by actuating the trigger of the bioinjection device. A configurable tip may be employed to control the amount and direction of dispersion of such medicament.

  • Patent number: 10667937
Abstract: The magnetorheological (MAR) medical brace includes a flexible outer shell that fits around the anatomical area to be braced and a plurality of adjustable straps for securing the shell onto the anatomical area. The shell encases a MAR pack filled with magnetorheological fluid or gel. A plurality of magnets is attached to or encased in the shell to provide magnetic field acting on the MAR pack. The interaction of the magnetic field with the MAR pack adjustably increases or decreases the stiffness of the shell depending on the strength of the magnetic field. A control mechanism is provided for selective adjustment of the magnetic field and other functions.

  • Patent number: 10485585
Abstract: The skull clamp system with pressure limiting and alarm systems includes at least one and preferably multiple inwardly power driven immobilizing pins adjustably engaging the skull of a patient. The pin power drive systems includes at least one sensor capable of sensing the degree of back pressure on the pin from contact of the pin against the bone of the patient, the sensor being capable of signaling the drive system to stop when the sensor detects a preselected degree of back pressure. The sensor is also capable of signaling an alarm to warn of any reduction of pressure applied to the pins that might result from pin slippage.

  • Patent number: 9387290
Abstract: The bioinjection device has a housing including a pistol grip and an elongated barrel. A trigger is pivotally mounted to the housing. A plunger and needle are slidable between a first position in which the plunger and needle are slidably disposed in the barrel and a second position in which the plunger and needle extend from an opening in the end of the barrel. A retaining member is disposed about the opening at the end of the barrel. A spring-biased actuation mechanism connects the trigger with the plunger and needle. A membranous cartridge containing bone morphogenic protein, antibiotics, and/or other medication is loaded into the retaining member. A surgeon can inject the cartridge into a bone fracture or degenerative bone tissue during surgery to deliver the medicament directly to the affected site.
