  • Patent number: 7149458
Abstract: In a xerographic printing apparatus, a scorotron places a uniform charge on a photoreceptor for forming electrostatic latent images. Three conductive pin arrays are disposed in a housing defined by sidewalls and a screen adjacent the photoreceptor. There can be provided insulative walls between adjacent pin arrays. The screen and a surface of the housing can be curved to correspond to a curvature of the photoreceptor.

  • Patent number: 6895198
Abstract: In a module for use in a xerographic printer, a substantially single-piece device includes thereon a cleaning blade, seal flap, and side seals for engaging a photoreceptor. The device can be easily replaced when the module is remanufactured.

  • Patent number: 6687479
Abstract: A printing apparatus includes a guide member for directing sheets toward a transfer zone. The guide member defines a set of ribs which hold the sheets above the main surface of the guide member. Thus, any stray marking material which lands on the guide member is relatively unlikely to contact a sheet moving over the guide member.

  • Patent number: 6169864
Abstract: A container for storing a supply of toner therein includes a housing having an open end. A sealing member is mounted movably in the open end of the housing. The sealing member is adapted to move from a closed position sealing the open end of the housing to an open position enabling discharge of toner from the open position of the housing. A spring, in engagement with the sealing member, resiliently urges the sealing member from the open position to the closed position. In this way, the toner cartridge is sealed when remote from the printing machine and opens in response to being placed in the operative position in the printing machine.

  • Patent number: 4727823
Abstract: A new and improved structure for transporting single component magnetic developer for developing latent electrostatic images or for removing residual developer from a charge-retentive surface. In one embodiment of the invention narrow metal strips are embedded in the outer shell or cylinder of a conventional magnetic roll structure. The strips are very pointed adjacent the outer periphery of the shell. The sharp tips ensure a high magnetic field gradient when the magnetic roll disposed internally of the shell is rotated. The thinness of the strips causes them to respond to only the radial component of the magnetic field. Each strip responds to the oscillating radial field component slightly out of phase with its adjacent strip thereby creating a wave gradient along the surface which pulls and tumbles developer over the surface.

  • Patent number: 4637340
Abstract: A new and improved structure for metering the developer to a uniform thickness on a developer roll. To this end a magnetic steel shim or blade member is provided in the vicinity of a magnetic developer roll. The shape and location of the shim or blade member in the developer sump is such that a transport magnet (i.e. developer roll) rotatably supported adjacent the outlet of the sump causes vibration of the shim or blade due to the coupling and decoupling therebetween of the magnetic force fields created through the rotation of the developer roll. The developer which passes between the shim or blade member and the developer roll is freed of agglomerations and is metered to a predetermined thickness on the developer roll.

  • Patent number: 4627717
Abstract: Cleaning apparatus for removing residual single component magnetic toner from a charge retentive surface. The cleaning apparatus comprises a magnetic cleaning roller and a magnetic image disturber, the latter of which includes a pair of blade members which are spacially oriented so that two adjacent ends thereof form a gap therebetween which is disposed adjacent the charge retentive surface. The opposite ends of the blade members are disposed adjacent the magnetic roller such that upon rotation of the roller a pulsating magnetic field is created across the gap.

  • Patent number: 4567848
Abstract: A new and improved structure for agitating the developer in the sump of a developer apparatus. To this end one or more magnetic steel shim or blade members are provided in the developer sump adjacent the outlet thereof and in the vicinity of a magnetic developer roll. The shape and location of the shim or blade members in the developer sump are such that a transport magnet (i.e., developer roll) rotatably supported adjacent the outlet of the sump causes vibration of the shim or blades due to the coupling and decoupling therebetween of the magnetic force fields created through the rotation of the developer roll.
