  • Patent number: 8302824
Abstract: A dispensing closure has a flow conduit that provides a sufficient flow restriction to prevent unwanted spurting of the product when the container is initially opened. The dispensing closure includes a closure body with an upper deck and a flow conduit extending through the upper deck. The flow conduit includes an entry orifice having an entrance axis and an exit orifice having an exit axis. The entrance axis is parallel to, but not co-linear with, the exit axis to provide a non-linear flow path from an interior of the closure to the exterior of the closure.

  • Publication number: 20110284590
Abstract: A dispensing closure has a key-hole shaped flow conduit that provides a sufficient flow restriction to prevent unwanted spurting of the product. The dispensing closure includes a closure body with an upper and lower deck, inner and outer skirt, and a flow conduit extending through the upper deck. The flow conduit includes including two or more vertically oriented walls and a bottom wall. The vertically oriented walls define a fluid trapping area and a partition wall depending downwardly from said upper deck. The bottom wall configured and arranged to be positioned along a horizontal axis. The flow conduit includes one entrance orifice having one entrance axis and an exit orifice having an exit axis. The entrance axis is stepped or offset from the exit axis whereby the flow conduit provides a non-linear flow path of product from an interior of the closure to an exterior of the closure.

  • Patent number: 7762438
Abstract: A closure body has a closure deck with a dispensing orifice. A lower peripheral skirt depends from the closure deck and is configured to be mounted on a container. A closure cap has an upper wall and a wall flange which depends from the upper wall. A hinge structure joins the wall flange to the lower peripheral skirt. A latch recess is defined within the lower peripheral skirt. A latch protrusion is located on the wall flange of the cap and positioned respectively positioned above the latch recess when closure cap is in a closed position. The latch protrusion and the latch recess define interfitting mating formations which engage to secure the cap to the closure body when the closure cap is in an open position.

  • Patent number: 7314150
Abstract: A dispensing closure for a container includes a closure body, a cap and a hinge body joining the cap to the body. The closure body includes an upper wall having an orifice and further includes an upper skirt depending from the upper wall, and a lower skirt depending from the upper skirt. • Patent number: 7128227
Abstract: A dispensing closure, including a horizontal deck, an aperture through the deck, and a collar depending below the aperture in the deck, is snapped over an annular bead on the neck of a molded plastic bottle. A stop wall, comprising a pair of ribs mounted for pivotal movement, is formed in the interior of the body of the closure; a gap is centrally located between the ribs. A radially projecting lug, which is triangular when viewed in side elevation, is formed on the sloping collar of the container; a dovetailed segment is defined at the free end of the lug. The collar on the closure has interrupted beads, so that the dispensing closure is secured to the container by snapping the interrupted beads over the annular bead on the neck of the container. The ribs of the stop wall flex pivotally outwardly when contacting the outer end of the lug.

  • Patent number: 6050459
Abstract: A rigid dip tube connector for a trigger spray bottle having a threaded opening. A cap body is screwed onto the opening and has a hinged cap attached thereto. The cap body has an annulus and an opening in the center for supporting a rigid dip tube. A plastic connector is provided and has a cylindrical bore extending from its bottom which fits into the opening in the cap body. The plastic connector is cylindrical and has an annulus in its upper portion for receiving a flexible tube for connection to a sprayer. The plastic connector fits into the annulus of the cap body so that the rigid dip tube and flexible tube align with one another. In a second embodiment, the annulus of the cap body is open and the rigid dip tube connects directly to the plastic connector or plunger. As a result, the plastic connector by itself connects and aligns the rigid dip tube and the flexible tube. The plastic connector snap fits into the opening of the cap body.

  • Patent number: 5890633
Abstract: A two piece, molded plastic dispenser, that functions with a push-pull motion, comprising an outer shell and an inner shell. The outer shell comprises a top wall with an aperture defined at its center, and a skirt of generally cylindrical shape. A plug seal extends below the top wall, and annular groove and bead are formed in the vicinity of the upper end of the inner surface of the skirt and the underside of the top wall. The inner shell comprises a top wall, a tapered spud extending upwardly from the top wall, an annular barrier encircling the spud, and a depending skirt. Detents and arcuate wall segments extend, in interspersed fashion, about the perimeter of the upper shell, and cooperate with the bead on the outer shell. Vertical ribs on the inner surface of the outer shell cooperate with serrations on the exterior surface of the inner shell to guide the relative movement of the outer shell, in a vertical direction, while preventing relative rotation between the shells.

  • Patent number: 5524799
Abstract: A dispensing closure consisting of a cap with a cavity defined in its upper surface, and a spout to fit within the cavity. The spout has an enlarged base, and a central passage extending through the base and the remainder of the spout. Aligned trunnions are formed on the opposite sides of the base of the spout. An opening in the cap allows communication between the container upon which the cap is seated and the central passage in the spout. A pair of standards are integrally molded within the cavity in the cap, and one standard is situated on each side of the opening. A U-shaped bearing, with a slightly restricted opening, is located at the upper end of each standard and spaced fingers define the entrance into each bearing. The trunnions are forced downwardly into the opening in each bearing. The fingers deform momentarily to accept the trunnions and return to their unstressed condition to capture same, thus securing the spout to the cap and exerting a downwardly directed force upon the spout.
