Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for making a polyurea foamed backed product with a polyurethane skin. The process involves (a) providing a mold surface, (b) applying a polyurethane paint to the inner surface of the mold to provide a coated inner surface and (c) spraying at least one polyurea layer onto said coated inner surface to form an integral foamed backed polyurea product with a polyurethane skin.

Abstract: A door and frame in a motor vehicle interior instrument panel or other trim panel is obscured to a vehicle occupant before deployment of an air bag located behind the trim panel. A trim element cover overlaps a joint between the door and frame. The trim element cover is able to self-heal small punctures or slits so that foam materials on an inner side of the panel are prevented from passing through the holes or slits. The frame is stronger relative to the opening due to a reinforcing element applied to the inside perimeter of the opening on the underside of the trim element.

Abstract: Polyurethane compositions containing milled glass fibers alone tend to have anisotropic properties. This effect is cured by adding an effective amount of mica, preferably about 22 to 25 percent for each 5 to 8 percent of milled glass fiber.
