  • Patent number: 11558973
Abstract: Harsh environment key panel and bezel structures for a user interface device are disclosed. In embodiments, a user interface device includes a printed board, a switch mounted to the printed board, and a key panel disposed upon the printed board. The key panel includes a plurality of printed device layers forming a bezel, a button configured to actuate the switch, and a deformable interface between the bezel and the button. The plurality of printed device layers can include at least one continuous printed device layer that forms portions of the bezel, the button, and the deformable interface. The continuous printed device layer may include at least one rigid device material that forms a portion of the bezel and a portion of the button and a deformable device material that forms a portion of the deformable interface between the bezel and the button.

  • Patent number: 11429224
Abstract: A touchscreen device utilizes digital scan to resolve a touch location with high precision. The touchscreen device includes touchells of about 3.175 mm by 3.175 mm (0.125 inches by 0.125 inches). An integrated circuit detects contacts in the touchells that resolve to touches on the touchscreen, and communicates those touches to a micro-controller via a serial bus. Silver epoxy interconnects for the tracks are reduced or eliminated. Multiple touchscreens having distinct touchell networks may be disposed to create a larger touchscreen area. Similarly, a single touchscreen may be divided quadrants, each with a distinct touchell network.

  • Patent number: 10996511
Abstract: A display including a curved backlight and system for stray light control is disclosed. In embodiments, the curved backlight includes a curved substrate and an array of light sources disposed on the curved substrate, collimating optics, and a diffuser. The array of light sources includes a first group of light sources and a second group of light sources. The collimating optics are arranged to receive and collimate light only from the first group of light sources. The diffuser is arranged to receive and diffuse the collimated light from the collimating optics and light from the second group of light sources. The display further includes a liquid crystal layer arranged to receive light generated by the array of light sources and to display an image. The display further includes a controller configured to control the array of light sources such that at least some of the light sources emit light.

  • Patent number: 10732774
Abstract: An aircraft includes a cursor control device having a defined return path for the touch sensor so that the impedance in the return path is known. The defined return path is embodied in a conductive feature in the cursor control device palm contact area to ground the user and improve the system's signal to noise ratio. The defined return path normalizes signal variability due to environmental factors and user specific factors such as finger size, skin moisture, contaminants, etc.
