Publication number: 20180168115Abstract: One stump cutter cutting wheel disclosed herein includes a wheel structure having left and right sides and being rotatable about a central axis extending between the left and right sides. The left and right sides define receptacles having depths measured in an orientation extending along the axis. Cutter assemblies are mounted to the wheel structure and include cutters mounted to cutter holders. The cutter holders include base portions that fit within the receptacles, and the base portions each define at least one fastener opening. The base portions further define base thicknesses measured in the orientation extending along the axis. The receptacle depths are at least 0.25 times as large as the base thicknesses such that no more than 75 percent of the base thicknesses extend laterally outside the receptacles. Fasteners secure the cutter holders to the wheel structure and extend through the fastener openings defined by the base portions.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 13, 2018Publication date: June 21, 2018Inventors: CLINT WEINBERG, LOUIS C. HARTKE

Publication number: 20150375233Abstract: A material reducing apparatus may be provided. The material reducing apparatus may include a rotor structure for driving rotation of the rotary reducing component. The rotary reducing component includes a first set of reducing component elements and a second set of reducing component elements, each with distinct characteristics. The first set of reducing elements can be carried by the rotor structure within first mounting locations such that the first set of reducing elements is balanced as a set relative to the axis of rotation. The rotary reducing component further includes a second set of reducing elements carried by the rotor structure within second mounting locations such that the second set of reducing elements is balanced as a set relative to the axis of rotation. In certain examples, multiple sets of reducing elements may coexist within the rotary reducing component, each with distinct characteristics.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 29, 2015Publication date: December 31, 2015Inventors: Stephen Daining, David Muff, Clint Weinberg, Kun He

Publication number: 20140217220Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing for a balanced rotor having cutting teeth attached thereto. The longitudinal length of the rotor is conceptually divided in half by a plane disposed perpendicular to the axis of rotation. The cutting teeth are arranged in a plurality of helices about the rotor so each half of the rotor is statically balanced. The cutting teeth are further arranged so the centers of mass of the two halves are equidistant from the dividing plane. A gap may exist between the ends of the rotor and the nearest tooth encountered in each helix. The gaps for different helices may be different, however, the gaps at each end of each helix are the same length. The above result in a rigidly balanced rotor.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 18, 2013Publication date: August 7, 2014Inventor: Clint Weinberg
