  • Patent number: 10018431
Abstract: A nozzle block for a sootblower of the type for cleaning internal heat transfer surfaces of large scale coal fired combustion systems. For cleaning the internal surfaces, a cleaning medium is often used in the form of steam. Due to the cyclical operations and the process of condensation, condensate slugs of water can form in the sootblower fluid flow components. If these slugs are ejected against clean surfaces, undesirable erosion can occur. Several embodiments of nozzle blocks are described each having one or more ejection ports at their distal ends configured to maximize the ejection of condensates while minimizing their cross-sectional area which would diminish nozzle fluidic efficiency. Additional features enhance the ability of the nozzle block to separate and disperse condensate from the slots.

  • Publication number: 20070049469
Abstract: A light, ruggedized, easily used, easily storable and shippable article suitable for free-weight training at any number of pre-determined weights, is disclosed. The invention provides a bag suitable for filling with a readily available material such as sand or soil. The bag includes a pouch including indicia presenting a calibration marker. The bag also has a handle and a fixing structure. When one material from a predetermined set, for example dry, fine sand is filled in the pouch to the calibration marker, the bag is at a substantially pre-determined weight. The bag is then cinched tight with the fixing structure. In this fashion the bag may be gripped by the handle for free-weight training at a substantially predetermined weight. In preferred embodiments, the bag also includes orthogonally intersecting, reinforcing bands at the exterior on the bottom of the bag for rugged, long lasting use.

  • Publication number: 20070045584
Abstract: A poppet valve for use with a sootblower for removing debris from an interior volume of a boiler is provided. The poppet valve assembly includes a valve housing and a valve head configured to move within the valve housing between an open position and a closed position. The poppet valve assembly enables the cleaning fluid to undergo relatively small pressure loss as it flows through the poppet valve assembly when the valve head is in the open position. More specifically, the poppet valve assembly has a loss factor that is substantially less than currently-known valves. The poppet valve causes the cleaning fluid to undergo relatively small pressure loss while flowing therethrough.

  • Patent number: 6772034
Abstract: A method is presented wherein an engineering data collection (EDC) subsystem of a process control system as embodied is responsible for configuring data collection, distributing collected data, and storing collected data, and is supported through underlying interfaces in a transaction and performance monitoring system. In an embodiment, an engineering data collection (EDC) broker accepts data from equipment interfaces or a tap subsystem, then distributes the data to all subscribers such as data history, the engineering data analysis (EDA) system interface, and the statistical process control (SPC) subsystem as disclosed herein. Engineering data analysis system interface is responsible for transmitting raw data and process control system data to engineering data analysis system. Data history subscribes to all data and stores it in the transaction and performance monitoring system's online transaction processing (OLTP) database.

  • Patent number: 6727106
Abstract: The statistical process control (SPC) subsystem is the heart of the data collection and process control system for semiconductor manufacturing in the various embodiments as disclosed herein. SPC is responsible for performing calculations to generate statistics on collected measurement data, applying rules to the statistics, and executing error actions when those rules are violated. SPC subsystem plays a role in corrective actions as well by lifting restrictions previously imposed on tools or lots as a result of rule violations. In an embodiment, SPC is supported through underlying transaction and performance monitoring system components. In an embodiment, SPC procedure is a statistical engine that performs what the process control strategy (PCS) describes, hence there is at least one SPC procedure for each PCS. Components in SPC send data to the chart client subsystem as embodied herein, which allows visualization of statistics generated by SPC procedure in graphical chart form via a web browser.
