    Abstract: A ballistic resistant garment carrying assembly having a foldable ballistic panel movable from a nondeployed position from a pouch to a deployed position in which the panel extends from the pouch. The pouch being mountable to the body of a wearer. The foldable ballistic resistant panel is suspendable from a wearer's neck when in a deployed position. A ballistic resistant gun holster adjustably mounted onto the ballistic resistant panel. A holder for adjustably securing a gun handle to a ballistic resistant panel. An authority identification sign carried on the ballistic resistant panel. An ammunition pouch mounted onto the ballistic panel. A ballistic resistant crotch pad moveable from a mounted overlying position with another ballistic resistant panel that is secured to a mid-section of a person's body to an extended position below the ballistic resistant panel.

    Abstract: The present invention provides a prebent ceramic suspension which includes a ceramic load beam which is bent by a stress patch. With thin film techniques the stress patch is formed on top of the load beam. In the preferred embodiment the patch is amorphous hydrogenated diamond-like carbon. When the suspension is on a wafer the carbon patch exerts a compressive stress on a top surface of the load beam just under the patch. When the suspension is released from the wafer the compressive patch exerts tensile forces on the top surface of the load beam causing an end of the load beam to bend toward the wafer. The amount of bending of the suspension can be accurately controlled by the cross sections of the load beam and the patch as well as the lateral dimensions of the patch. Further control can be achieved by controlling the hydrogen, nitrogen and other additive components of the carbon patch.

    Abstract: Disclosed herein is a safety trench box for use in protecting workmen from cave-ins while operating within an excavated area. The device includes a barrier which surrounds the work area having a depth substantially that of the trench and an opening along one wall of the barrier that allows work to be sequentially fed therethrough. The safety device includes a pair of runners upon which the device is carried so that advancing the safety device can be easily accomplished.
