  • Publication number: 20090165074
Abstract: Described herein are systems and methods for dynamic management of a plurality of integrated receiver decoders (IRDs) based implicitly on the uplink's knowledge of an identity pre-assigned to each IRD. Thus, the IRD association or other IRD configurations may be maintained by a uplink controller and need not be disseminated to each IRD a priori. This eliminates the need to expend network bandwidth and extra time to send out IRD configurations to individual IRDs prior to commanding or controlling the IRDs as desired.

  • Publication number: 20060239176
Abstract: A method and apparatus for processing a return path signal transmitted from a user device is described. In one example, an apparatus receives, and subsequently decodes, a return path signal that is transmitted from a user device. From the decoded signal, the type of user device transmitting the return path signal is determined. The apparatus then routes the return path signal to a media access control (MAC) processor that is specifically designed to process return path signals transmitted from the determined type of user device.

  • Publication number: 20050175040
Abstract: A method for multiplexing DOCSIS data into an MPEG data stream includes synchronizing an MPEG system clock and a DOCSIS system clock, multiplexing a DOCSIS data stream into an MPEG Transport Stream while preserving the accuracy of a number of MPEG program clock reference (PCR) values, transmitting the multiplexed Transport Stream, receiving the multiplexed Transport Stream in a receiving device, recovering the MPEG PCR values, and generating a DOCSIS clock based on the MPEG PCR values.

  • Patent number: 6268826
Abstract: A method and apparatus for aiming a satellite antenna at a target satellite allow a user to enter a commonly known geographic designator, such as a ZIP Code. From the ZIP Code the longitude and latitude of the antenna is determined. The user also inputs the longitude of the target satellite or the name of the satellite, from which the longitude is looked-up. The system also references a model of variation in Earth's magnetic field so as to determine the variance at the antenna's location and correct the aiming parameters for that variance.
