  • Patent number: 10775052
Abstract: A heating system and method of using such system in a building for zoned radiant heating. The system includes thermostatic radiator valves, each fluidly connected between at least one radiator in a zone of the building and a boiler. A controller is operatively connected to the valves to deactivate the valve positioners when the controller determines that valve activity is likely to have little to no effect on the output of the respective radiator and/or active heating of the building is not desired. For example, the controller determines when the boiler is deactivated and sends a deactivation control signal to the valves operative to prevent the valve positioners from adjusting the respective valve position. In another example, the controller sends the deactivation control signals to the valves at the onset of preprogrammed low usage periods of the heating system.

  • Patent number: 9757460
Abstract: The invention provides novel compositions of bioactive polypeptides and proteins with improved stability and shelf-life. The compositions are based on liquid vehicles selected from semifluorinated alkanes. These vehicles are remarkably effective in protecting polypeptides and proteins from degradation and/or aggregation. The compositions are useful for topical administration, e.g. into an eye, or by parenteral injection, e.g. via the subcutaneous or intramuscular route.

  • Publication number: 20090277034
Abstract: An air intake system for supplying outdoor air to a clothes dryer, the system including an enclosure positioned to substantially cover an air intake of a clothes dryer and a conduit coupling the enclosure with the outdoor environment, the enclosure defining an air space for maintaining a volume of supply air and an open side positioned adjacent the air intake such that air is supplied to the air intake from the supply air.

  • Patent number: 6787876
Abstract: A semiconductor device comprises a substrate (11) having an insulating layer (12) formed on a surface thereof, and a silicon layer (13) located on a surface of the insulating layer. A trench (14) extends from a surface of the silicon layer (13) through the insulating layer (12) and into the substrate (11). An insulating liner (14a) is located on the side walls and the base of the trench (14), and an in-fill (14b) of thermally-conductive material is formed within the insulating liner. The insulating liner (14a), the in-fill material (14b) and the distance over which the trench 14) extends into the substrate (11) are such as to promote flow of heat from the silicon layer (13) to the substrate.

  • Patent number: 6617223
Abstract: A method of forming an electrical isolation trench in a silicon-on-insulator (SOI) structure. The method comprises forming a first oxide layer on top of the upper silicon layer of the SOI structure, forming a polysilicon layer on top of said oxide layer, forming a second oxide layer on top of said polysilicon layer, patterning the first oxide layer, polysilicon layer, and second oxide layer to provide an etch mask, etching the upper silicon layer of the SOI structure to form said trench, and removing said second oxide layer and said polysilicon layer.
