  • Patent number: 4179319
Abstract: A laminated sealing article comprising a layer of adhesive sandwiched between a pair of cross-linked, dimensionally heat unstable wafers of polymeric material. The article is provided with a plurality of apertures adapted to receive a corresponding plurality of substrates. The gaps between the plurality of substrates are sealed by heating the article to the recovery temperature of the wafers. This heating causes the layer of adhesive to bond to the substrates and the wafers to recover around the substrates thereby forming a seal between all of the substrates and the article. The heat recoverable article of the invention is particularly well adapted for use in a method of environmentally sealing the rear of an electrical connector of the type having a plurality of individually insulated electrical conductors extending from a tubular rear portion.

  • Patent number: 4105481
Abstract: An improved process for encapsulating a cylindrical electrical element having lead wires emanating therefrom including the steps of enveloping said element in a heat-shrinkable polymeric tubular member whereby said lead wires extend out through the open ends of said tubular member and heating said tubular member causing it to conformingly recover around said element.

  • Patent number: 4074420
Abstract: An apparatus and method employing a plurality of heating boats to provide for the soldered assembly of leads, electronic components and plastic jackets without intermediate handling steps. Two heating boats are positioned on either side of a jacket retaining block such that the heating cavities of the first boat are aligned in an opposed relationship with the heating cavities of the second boat. Passageways through the plate extend between the opposed heating cavities. The heating cavities of the first boat receive leads, electronic components and solder wafers which are heated to form assembled electronic devices. The assembled devices are then moved through the passageways in the plate into the second boat where jackets, previously positioned in the heating cavities of the second boat, are heated to recover about the leads and components. The leads are maintained in alignment in passageways extending from the closed ends of the heating cavities to prevent premature bending loads on the assembled components.

  • Patent number: 3996888
Abstract: An apparatus for lubricating and/or cleaning a heated fuser roller in a heat-pressure fusing system for electrophotographic copying. The apparatus includes a lubricating and/or cleaning means in contact with the heated fuser roll, the means including a cross-linked polymeric material on its outer surface. The polymeric material may have a leachable lubricating material dispersed therein, for controlled lubrication of the fuser roller. After depletion of the lubricating material, the cross-linked polymeric material then functions to remove and collect the toner particles from the surface of the toner fuser roller. The apparatus is preferably mounted in contact with the fuser roller by a means which permits easy removal and replacement in the field, after the lubricant has been depleted or the polymeric material has become saturated with toner particles.
