Abstract: A protector for an opening in a liquid container is provided to prevent entry into the container by dangerous insects such as bees and the like while allowing the user to drink from the container through the protector. The protector includes a flat cover having a number of small apertures therein. The protector also includes a mechanism for mounting the cover to the container over the drink opening. In one embodiment of the invention, the protector is adhesively attached over the drink opening. In another embodiment, the flat cover is part of a tab opening device which can be locked over the drink opening after the opening is made.
