    Abstract: A method and apparatus for cleaning filter media in dewatering apparatus in situ includes an applicator which sprays a mixture of water and a cleaning agent onto a filter media as the applicator and media undergo relative movement. The cleaning solution contains selected oxidizers and dispersants to break the polymer bond and remove polymeric residues from the media without the need for removing the media from the apparatus.
