  • Patent number: 4427250
Abstract: Apparatus is disclosed for making electrical contact with test points on a generally thin planar test member. The test member is mounted for movement to a location for test. A plurality of conductive probe heads, each having a contact point are arranged so that the contact points lie generally in a plane that is co-planar with the location for test. At least one flexible inflator is mounted adjacent the test member. Upon distension, the inflator urges the test member against the probe heads such that the contact points of the probe heads contact selected test points on the test member.

  • Patent number: 4209745
Abstract: An interchangeable test head for a vacuum fixture for testing a loaded planar test member. The test head includes support means comprising a planar support surface. A platform is in opposed relation to the planar support surface and has a planar test member surface. Resilient seal means is affixed to the platform and is flared outwardly around the perimeter of the platform to a free edge which engages and forms a vacuum seal with the planar support surface thereby providing a vacuum chamber between the platform and the support means. Stop means limits the deactuated position of the platform so that the entire free edge of the seal means remains in engagement with the planar support surface. Vacuum in the chamber causes the platform to move along the path from the deactuated position to the actuated position. A plurality of spaced spring probes is mounted on the support means. A plurality of openings is provided through the platform for drawing a test member against the spring probes.

  • Patent number: 4176900
Abstract: A low insertion force connector assembly comprising a number of contact modules. Each contact module includes a nonconductive contact carrier housing having oppositely facing sides and comprising, extending between the oppositely facing sides, a pair of cam openings and a notch. Included in each contact carrier housing is at least one electrical spring contact cantilevered in the contact carrier housing and extending adjacent one of the openings and along a side of the notch. The contact modules are aligned with the notches in a common row and the openings in first and second aligned rows. Also included in the connector assembly are first and second cam actuating means extending through, respectively, the first and second rows of openings. Each cam actuating means is adapted for actuating all of the cantilevered contacts adjacent the openings in the corresponding row into contact with a member inserted into the aligned notches.
