  • Patent number: 9817908
Abstract: Generally discussed herein are systems, apparatuses, and methods for organizing and/or searching news events. In one or more embodiments, a method can include encoding a news event based on named entities, actors, and actions mentioned in the news event, calculating a locality sensitive hash (LSH) key on the news event encoding, comparing the calculated LSH key to a plurality of LSH keys of respective stories, wherein each story of the respective stories comprises one or more associated news events that include LSH keys that are within a specified distance from each other, and associating the news event with a story of the respective stories that includes an LSH key that has a smallest distance from the LSH key of the received news event and is less than the specified distance.

  • Patent number: 8316006
Abstract: A method for generating an ontology may include selecting, by a processing device, a tag in a tag cloud. The method may also include searching, by the processing device, an online encyclopedia for content corresponding to the selected tag and determining, by the processing device, at least one category to which the content belongs in the online encyclopedia in response to finding the content corresponding to the selected tag in the online encyclopedia. The method may additionally include adding, by the processing device, a class to the ontology corresponding to the at least one category of the content in the online encyclopedia.

  • Patent number: 6057526
Abstract: A wire feed unit system including a base having a lower support surface positionable upon a recipient surface and an upper support surface. A housing is located on the upper support surface with a door mounted on one side face thereof supported by a hinge to allow access to an interior chamber therein. A plurality of wire feed wheels in rotatable driving contact with each other and an associated motor for effecting the rotation of one of the wheels with the filler wire therebetween to thereby feed the filler wire from the pulley to exterior of the housing. A whip hold down tube extends through the housing at the downstream end thereof with an intermediate tubular wire guide between the wheels and the whip hold down. A flexible cylindrical line extends from the whip hold down to the area to be welded with a cylindrical whip body at the end of the line.

  • Patent number: 5469404
Abstract: A marine seismic signal source apparatus and method that maximizes the usable acoustical (db) energy of the array signature in a lower frequency bandwidth. The apparatus forms a three dimensional 2.times.4.times.2 array having a plurality of 8 air guns of identical firing chamber size (10 cubic inch) operably arranged in pairs at different water depths. Firing of the guns in a top to bottom time delayed sequence shifts the frequency domain of the peak acoustical db signal to concentrate the usable seismic energy in the deeper earth formation penetrating range. The frequency boundaries of the bandwidth of the occurrence of the peak 6 db increment of acoustical power are lowered and compressed into a narrower bandwidth by the firing sequence.

  • Patent number: 4956822
Abstract: A towable marine seismic source apparatus for producing a high resolution seismic signal at relatively shallow depths for engineering surveys is disclosed. The apparatus support frame operably mounts a plurality of eight identical chambered air guns in a 2.times.4.times.2 configuration to provide a tapered, heavy centered point source. The cylindrical air guns are positioned in a horizontal orientation at a predetermined depth of 1 to 3 meters and are synchronized to fire substantially simultaneously to achieve maximum peak energy output. Two chamber sizes of individual air guns (4 cu. in. & 10 cu. in.) are in a desired range and may be preferably employed in the array configuration to produce the seismic signal having distinct signature characteristics.
