  • Patent number: 4349732
Abstract: Method and apparatus for spatially stabilizing a projected beam of light, such as laser light. The beam is expanded prior to projection and then reduced and error corrected after reception.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 7, 1980
Date of Patent: September 14, 1982
    Assignee: The Singer Company
Inventors: Clyde M. Whitby, Douglas L. White, deceased
  • Patent number: 4297723
Abstract: A projected light beam video image display system. The displayed scene is presented in contiguous scene parts which form a single scene. Modulated beams for each scene part are generated and simultaneously scanned in the pattern of a TV raster for each. The beams are projected onto a viewing surface through a beam separator which separates the beams such that each beam scans a separate scene part in appropriate location on the viewing surface to form the single scene.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 28, 1980
Date of Patent: October 27, 1981
    Assignee: The Singer Company
    Inventor: Clyde M. Whitby
  • Patent number: 4274109
Abstract: Technique for generating scanned video signals for a viewed scene by scanning a beam of white light across the scene to be viewed and detecting the amounts of light reflected from the scene in each three spectral regions corresponding to the primary colors. The beam of white light comprises four monochrome components. Three components comprise beams of monochrome light corresponding to the three primary colors, while the fourth component is a monochrome beam of light having a color intermediate two of the primary colors, and intermediate adjacent color distinguishable pigment reflectance fall-off regions.

Date of Patent: June 16, 1981
    Assignee: The Singer Company

  • Patent number: 4125843
Abstract: A single projector and a laser radiation deflecting means enable laser generated images to be projected onto a screen together with a laser pointer. A first laser beam polarized in a first plane and a second laser beam polarized in a second plane is projected into a polarizer cube wherein the first laser beam is reflected to a record medium to record images thereon and the second laser beam is transmitted through the polarizer cube. Polarization and deflecting means located in the path of the transmitted second laser beam changes the polarization of the second laser beam to the polarization of the first laser beam and reflects the second laser beam back into the polarizer cube wherein the second laser beam is reflected in a direction opposite to that of the first laser beam to enable the second laser beam to function as a pointer.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 14, 1977
Date of Patent: November 14, 1978

  • Patent number: 3961334
Abstract: A high-speed, permanent recording, multicolor projection display system in which the beam of a pulsed Argon laser is selectively deflected and focused to burn the desired images in a metalized film record medium which is back-illuminated for projecting the recorded images as they are produced. A channel selector polarizes the laser beam in either of two planes; each polarized channel is then selectively deflected and is focused through a dichroic/polarizer cube that transmits one channel and reflects the other channel to the metalized films in the focal planes where images are formed by the thermal action. Simultaneously with the recording action, the images are projected by the use of white light that is split into two colored light beams by a second dichroic cube and is reflected to backlight the images in each of the metalized films.

Date of Patent: June 1, 1976
