  • Patent number: 5284038
Abstract: A locking device includes a threaded stud with a flat face cut through the threaded surface parallel to the axial direction of the stud, and a knob which locks over a forward section of the stud and includes a casing having an inner surface which defines a hole extending axially through the casing. The inner surface of the casing has a flat surface extending axially which receives the corresponding flat face on the threaded stud to prevent rotation of the casing with respect to the stud. The knob also includes a tumbler housing which is mounted in an axially-fixed position within the casing to rotate freely when a key is inserted into the tumbler housing, and to remain locked in a fixed position when the key is withdrawn. Fitted into the rearward end of the tumbler housing is a sleeve having a threaded axial hole which engages the threaded stud when the tumbler housing is turned by a key to thereby pull the forward section of the stud into the casing hole.

  • Patent number: 5063763
Abstract: A locking device for locking instruments such as boat sonar units to their mounting brackets includes a key tumbler housing and a casing surrounding the key tumbler housing so that the tumbler housing rotates within the casing when a key is inserted in the tumbler housing, and remains locked in a fixed position when the key is removed. A threaded stud unit is connected to a rearward end of the tumbler housing which engages with a threaded hole in the instrument body when the tumbler housing is turned with the key. The instrument is locked to the bracket by passing the threaded stud through an opening in the bracket and engaging the stud within the threaded hole in the instrument body. A stop member is provided on a rear face of the casing which seats within the bracket opening, so that when the key is removed from the tumbler housing the locking device cannot be unscrewed from the instrument.

  • Patent number: 4711106
Abstract: A locking device which may be used in locking two objects together, includes a stud having a threaded axial hole extending rearwardly from the forward end thereof and a keyed portion having at least one key, and a knob which locks over a forward portion of the stud and includes a casing with an inner surface including at least one keyway each of which receives the corresponding key on the stud to prevent rotation of the casing with respect to the stud. The knob also includes a tumbler housing which is mounted in an axially fixed position within the casing to rotate freely when a key is inserted into the tumbler housing, and to remain locked in a fixed position when the key is withdrawn. Connected to a rear end of the tumbler housing is a threaded stud which engages the threaded axial hole of the stud when the tumbler housing is turned by a key to thereby pull a forward portion of the stud into the casing hole.

  • Patent number: 4457530
Abstract: In common style cycle kickstands, particularly bicycle kickstands by cycles used and parked on dirt or soft blacktop drives, the weight of the cycle when the stand is in cycle supporting position will cause the kickstand foot to dig into the surface. The cycle will then fall over on its side damaging the cycle and if the cycle was on a blacktop surface, the stand damages that surface also. This problem is overcome by the present invention which is an accessory for the kickstand that is constructed from deformable plastic or rubber. The accessory is provided with a passageway slightly smaller in cross-section than the stand leg and foot so that it can be manually pushed over the kickstand leg and foot frictionally engaging the kickstand leg and foot in a tight fit.
