  • Publication number: 20210107131
Abstract: A power tool includes a tool housing and a motor assembly received in the tool housing. The motor assembly has a rear end portion, a front end portion, and a motor output shaft. A transmission housing is coupled to the motor housing with a transmission received in the transmission housing, to which the motor output shaft is drivingly coupled. A partition assembly includes a rear cover covering a rear end portion of the transmission housing that faces the front end portion of the motor and a seal. The rear cover of the transmission housing, the front end portion of the motor, and the seal together define at least a first labyrinth path and a second labyrinth path therebetween configured to inhibit grease or dust migration between the transmission housing and the motor assembly.

  • Publication number: 20180069456
Abstract: A power tool is provided including a housing and an electric motor including a stator and an armature rotatably received within the stator. The armature includes an armature shaft on which a commutator is mounted. The power tool includes a rear bearing mounted on the armature shaft adjacent the armature, and a brush assembly disposed around the commutator. The brush assembly includes a brush card, at least two brushes secured to the brush card around and in contact with the commutator, and a bridge cap extending from the brush card via legs and forming a bearing support for supporting the rearing bearing. At least one electromagnetic interference (EMI) suppression component is provided having a first terminal electrically coupled to the brush(es) and a second terminal electrically coupled to the rear bearing through the bridge cap so as to substantially ground the second terminal of the EMI suppression component.

  • Publication number: 20130162062
Abstract: A power tool is provided, including a housing, a permanent magnet electric motor in the housing, and an output member coupled to the electric motor. The electric motor includes a rotor and a stator. The stator includes a lamination stack of identically-shaped laminations with a North pole and a South pole. The stator also includes an end cap arranged at one end of the lamination stack. The end cap includes a polarity keying feature in an outer surface therein at a predetermined position with respect to one of the North pole or the South pole to identify a polarity of the stator.

  • Publication number: 20130162067
Abstract: A power tool is provided, including a housing, a permanent magnet electric motor in the housing, and an output member coupled to the electric motor. The electric motor includes a rotor and a stator with at least a North pole and a South pole. The stator includes a lamination stack of identically-shaped magnetically-conductive laminations with the identically-shaped pockets stamped therein and secured together in alignment to form the at least one magnet pocket at each pole. Each magnet pocket is contained within the lamination stack distanced from the inner and outer surfaces of the lamination stack. The stator further including at least one permanent magnet embedded within each magnet pocket of each pole.
