Patent number: 12004307Abstract: Embodiments are directed to short and/or near short etch rework. A microfluidic device is positioned on a portion of a circuit having a defect. The microfluidic device is caused to dispense etchant that removes the defect of the circuit, where a flow of the etchant is controlled to access the portion of the circuit having the defect to thereby etch away the defect, the flow of the etchant being obstructed from accessing other portions of the circuit. The microfluidic device is used to extract the etchant from the portion of the circuit such that the etchant avoids contact with the other portions of the circuit. The microfluidic device is removed from the circuit.Type: GrantFiled: June 9, 2021Date of Patent: June 4, 2024Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Colin Edward Masterson, John R. Patent number: 11484167Abstract: A rotor assembly is provided and includes a rotor, tongs and an actuation system. The rotor includes a shaft defining a rotational axis about which the rotor is rotatable and rotor elements supported on the shaft to define grooves. The tongs are disposed in the grooves to occupy and move between first and second positions. At the first positions, the tongs are retracted from the grooves. At the second positions, the tongs are engaged in the grooves to disentangle fibers from the rotor. The actuation system is configured to bias the tongs toward the first positions and is actuatable to drive the tongs into the second positions.Type: GrantFiled: May 13, 2020Date of Patent: November 1, 2022Assignee: INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATIONInventors: Michael Kane, Jacob Porter, Suraush Khambati, Colin Edward Masterson, Marie Cole
