Patent number: 9294084Abstract: A transistor drive circuit uses multi-stage slew rate control to drive one or more switching transistors. After a decision is made to change transistor state, a first drive current may be applied to an input terminal of the transistor for a predetermined time duration. After the predetermined time duration, a second drive current may be applied to the input terminal. When the transition between states is substantially complete, the current drive to the input terminal may be changed to a voltage drive. In some embodiments, the predetermined time duration may be based on the start time of a Miller plateau during the transition period.Type: GrantFiled: November 26, 2014Date of Patent: March 22, 2016Assignee: Allegro Microsystems, LLCInventors: James McIntosh, Robert D. Christie, Colin Hall, Alistair Wood

Patent number: 8537451Abstract: The present invention provides a process for producing an electroactive substrate. The process includes providing a substrate having an oxidant layer on a surface thereof, exposing the surface containing the oxidant layer to a vapor containing an aryl or heteroaryl monomer that is polymerizable to form an electroactive polymer, and polymerizing the aryl or heteroaryl monomer in the presence of a volatile Lewis base to form a polyaryl or polyheteroaryl electroactive polymer film on the surface of the substrate. The invention also provides electroactive substrates formed by the process.Type: GrantFiled: February 4, 2009Date of Patent: September 17, 2013Assignee: SMR Patents S.a.r.l.Inventors: Jakub Henryk Mazurkiewicz, Gordon George Wallace, Charles Peter Innis, Scott A. Edwards, Peter J. Murphy, Colin Hall, Rick Fabretto, Kamil Zuber

Patent number: 7999992Abstract: An electrochromic assembly 32 is disclosed. The assembly comprises: first and second electrodes 22, 24, at least one electrode being transparent; a porous membrane 10 defining a plurality of pores, the membrane having a first refractive index and located between the electrodes 22, 24; an electrolyte filling the pores, the electrolyte having a second refractive index substantially matching the first refractive index, the electrolyte and membrane together forming a substantially transparent electrolytic layer; and at least one electrochromic layer 18 covering at part of the first electrode 22. The membrane 10 is flexible and the spacing between the electrodes 22, 24 is held substantially constant by the membrane 10. The membrane is sealed with sealant 42.Type: GrantFiled: June 30, 2006Date of Patent: August 16, 2011Assignee: SMR Patents S.a.r.l.Inventors: Jakub Henryk Mazurkiewicz, Gordon George Wallace, Charles Peter Innis, Scott A. Publication number: 20080096014Abstract: The present invention provides a process for producing a craze resistant plastic article. The process includes steps of exposing a substrate surface to a plasma gas formed by introducing a gas mixture containing oxygen and an organosilicon monomer into a plasma chamber to deposit a polymer coating that adheres to the surface of the substrate. An innermost region of the coating adjacent the surface of the substrate is deposited with a ratio of organosilicon monomer to oxygen in the gas mixture that is greater than or equal to 1. An outermost region of the coating is deposited with a ratio of organosilicon monomer to oxygen in the gas mixture that is less than 1. The ratio of organosilicon monomer to oxygen in the plasma gas is altered progressively over time between deposition of the innermost and outermost regions to form a graded coating.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 12, 2005Publication date: April 24, 2008Applicant: UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH AUSTRALIAInventors: Hans Griesser, Peter Murphy, Colin Hall
