  • Patent number: 10188144
Abstract: An aerosol-forming member comprising a sheet of material configured to wick and to heat a solution is disclosed. The sheet of material comprises a non-planar inner major surface having a capillary structure configured to emit vapor during use, and an outer major surface that is configured to emit less vapor than the inner major surface during use.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 28, 2015
Date of Patent: January 29, 2019
    Assignee: Batmark Limited
Inventors: Colin John Dickens, Rory Fraser, Helmut Buchberger
  • Patent number: 10159284
Abstract: An aerosol provision system, such as an electronic cigarette, comprises an aerosol source for generating an aerosol from a source liquid comprising a liquid formulation, for example containing nicotine, is described. The system comprises an air channel arranged between the aerosol source and a mouthpiece opening through which a user inhales the aerosol during use. The air channel is defined by a wall, and at least a portion of an inner surface of the wall is provided with a surface finish to increase the wettability of the surface to the liquid formulation. Increasing the wettability of the air channel can help reduce the likelihood of the aerosol condensing into droplets of the liquid formulation on the walls of the air channel and being drawn into a user's mouth therefrom.

  • Publication number: 20170135401
Abstract: An electronic vapor provision system includes a vaporizer for vaporising liquid for inhalation by a user of the electronic vapor provision system; a power supply comprising a cell or battery for supplying power to the vaporizer; a sensor for measuring the rate of airflow through the electronic vapor provision system as a result of the inhalation by the user; and a control unit for controlling the power supplied to the vaporizer based on a cumulative airflow for this inhalation by the user, wherein the cumulative airflow is determined based on the measurements of airflow rate by the sensor. Such a system allows the user control over the amount of vaporized liquid obtained in a given inhalation based on the cumulative airflow for the given inhalation.

  • Publication number: 20170127725
Abstract: A vaporizer assembly comprising a vaporizer and a matrix suitable for retaining a vaporizable liquid, wherein the vaporizer includes first and second surfaces forming a common edge, the first surface having a greater surface area than the second surface, wherein the vaporizer is in contact with the matrix via the second surface.

  • Publication number: 20170042245
Abstract: An aerosol forming component for volatilizing a liquid in an aerosol delivery device is disclosed. The aerosol forming component includes a first aerosol-forming member configured to be heated up to a first operating temperature and thereafter to a second higher operating temperature, and a second aerosol-forming member configured to be heated up to at least the first operating temperature as the first aerosol-forming member reaches the second higher operating temperature so that liquid volatilized from the two aerosol-forming members mix with one another.

  • Patent number: 8056762
Abstract: A hand-held dispenser for dispensing a pharmaceutical product is disclosed. The dispenser has a housing providing a duct. A frangible membrane is provided in the duct. A probe with a piercing tip is mounted in the duct and arranged such that, in use the piercing tip pierces the frangible membrane. An air compression device is provided to compress air for expelling a pharmaceutical product through the probe and a channel is provided to substantially equalise the pressure in the air compression device and the pressure above the frangible membrane. The ability to substantially equalise the pressure in the bellows and the pressure above the frangible membrane on the sheath provides for a mote consistent release of pharmaceutical product when the frangible membrane is pierced.
