Abstract: A method, system and program product for group policy backup management in a network having a plurality of domains including components and modules for steps of retrieving a list of group policy objects for a domain, generating a configuration initialization file including a domains section identifying a plurality of domains that are to be backed up and a setup section specifying a plurality of values that control the backup of each policy object in each domain, determining a digital signature for each policy object on a list of policies for the domain, comparing the digital signature for each policy object with a corresponding previous digital signature for each policy, determining if a current digital signature for each policy object matches the corresponding previous digital signature for a policy, and backing up a policy object having a current digital signature that does not match the corresponding previous digital signature.

Abstract: A method, system, and a program product for managing updates to executable programming code on a computer system in a computer network. A maintenance service utility is configured to launch a maintenance procedure at a specified time during operation of the computer system. Operation of a maintenance timer utility is activated during startup of the computer system to track and monitor the amount of time the computer system has been operating since startup. The maintenance service utility determines if there any updates to the executable programming code that require installation. The maintenance procedure is launched after a specified time if there are updates to the executable programming code. The computer system is automatically rebooted to install the updates to the executable programming code. A maintenance service editor utility enables the maintenance service utility to be configured to launch the maintenance procedure after a specified time if there are updates to the executable programming code.

Abstract: A method, system, and program product are provided for updating software deployed on computers in an enterprise computer network wherein each computer has a software update agent installed to enable the computer to receive software patch updates. The method includes determining a required software component and updates based upon a location in a configuration file; determining a version of the agent and updating the agent if required; selecting a server from which required updates are to be downloaded; scanning a plurality of software components on a selected computer and comparing the components with updates available on the server to determine required updates; downloading the required patches from the server; and installing the patches on the selected computer. The system includes components that perform the method steps when operated on a computer in the network. A computer readable medium implements the method for updating software deployed on computers in a network.

Abstract: A method, system and program product for printer driver management in an enterprise network. Each requested printer driver is tested in a controlled environment to determine if the driver is compatible with at least one other driver in a set of drivers. The tested printer driver is conditioned for inclusion in a central repository that stores a plurality of sets of versioned drivers, if the printer driver is determined to be compatible. The tested driver and at least one associated file are packaged and stored in the central repository. The tested driver and associated file are deployed to at least one server hosting a distributed file share. The tested driver and associated file are downloaded to at least one print server. Driver files are touched with a date and time stamp so that workstations will automatically download updated printer drivers from the print server.

Abstract: A method, system, and computer program product for detecting and enforcing compliance with access requirements for a computer system in a restricted computer network. A compliance validation configuration file is created for the computer system. A maintenance service utility is configured to launch a compliance validation executable file at a specified time during operation of the computer system. A digital hash is generated for the compliance validation executable file and for the compliance validation configuration file. A determination is made if the computer system or a computer system user is a member of a configured restricted group. If the computer system or the computer system user is a member of a configured restricted group, a determination is made if a directory site code for a subnet of the restricted computer network to which the computer system is connected corresponds to a configured and allowed site.

Abstract: Techniques are disclosed herein for merging EPG data associated with a variety of program sources. In one aspect, EPG data is accessed for different program sources and rules are selected that define how entries in the EPG data are to be merged. The rules may be selected based on whether the EPG data was collected in-band or out-of-band. In addition, the merging rules can be dependent on the program source, which allows the flexibility of applying different rules to different program sources. The EPG data from the different program sources is merged into a single EPG based on the selected rules.

The wireless device includes a transmitting portion that includes one or more antennas that are characterized by one or more radiation patterns. The wireless device further comprises a sensor system for determining an orientation of the transmitting portion and a control system that is operatively coupled to the sensor system and configured to control the supply of power to each antenna depending on the orientation of the transmitting portion.

A list of group policies for a domain is retrieved and a digital signature is determined for each policy on the list of policies for the domain. The digital signature for each policy in the domain is compared with a corresponding previous digital signature for the same policy. If the current digital signature for each policy matches the corresponding previous digital signature for the same policy, no backup is performed. Each policy having a current digital signature that does not match the corresponding previous digital signature for the same policy is backed up. The preceding steps are repeated for each domain in a plurality of domains within the enterprise network computing environment. Individual policies can also be backed up or restored upon user request.

A removable plug selectively seals the passage way so that after the main chamber is filled with a first material, the plug can be inserted into the passage way and the mixing chamber filled with a second material. A cap closes the mixing chamber and selectively engages the plug so that after the cap has been placed on the mixing chamber, removal of the cap will also unseal the passageway causing the tow materials to be mixed in the main chamber. A dispensing chamber having an outlet spout is also provided in the container. A filling tube within the container connects the main chamber to the dispensing chamber.

Abstract: A device for dispensing a predetermined, measured quantity of liquid from an inverted bottle incorporates a delay mechanism whereby a plunger within the measuring chamber is held in an open condition for a predetermined period of time sufficient to ensure delivery of the entire contents of the measuring chamber. The delay mechanism is associated with a linkage system whereby an operating member disposed adjacent to the outlet of the measuring chamber is coupled to the plunger and comprises a piston which is driven in a cylinder by a spring at a rate determined by the rate at which a fluid flows through a restricting orifice.
