Publication number: 20130255124Abstract: A unitary sheet-like merchandise labeling article that has a labeling tag flatly conjoined along a unifying flat bond zone with a flexible elastic layer that extends away from the tag and includes an elastic fastening loop. The loop sides that define the loop are wider than the thickness of the elastic layer. Further, the flexible elastic layer that extends away from the tag has a thickness greater than the thickness of the tag and has a dispersion zone adjacent the unifying flat bond zone. The dispersion zone allows dissipation of elastic loop in-line stretching forces sufficiently to reduce transmission of such forces into the bond zone.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 1, 2013Publication date: October 3, 2013Applicant: Bedford Industries, Inc.Inventors: Robert B. Ludlow, John B. Linquist, Colin M. O'Donnell, Ryan M. Korpela

Patent number: 8316566Abstract: The disclosure relates to a linear series of connected unitary sheet-like merchandise labeling articles, each of which comprises a labeling tag flatly cojoined along a unifying flat bond zone with a flexible elastic layer that extends away from the tag and includes an elastic fastening loop. Adjacent labeling articles of the series are ruptureably connected in a manner permitting the series to be handled as a unit while at the same time permitting ruptureable separation of individual merchandise labeling articles from the series. In one embodiment, the linear series is wound into roll form.Type: GrantFiled: May 16, 2011Date of Patent: November 27, 2012Inventors: Robert B. Ludlow, Justin C. King, Kim A. Milbrandt, Colin M. O'Donnell, Jeffrey D. Tschetter

Patent number: 7836622Abstract: A foldable tag including multiple fold segments and an expandable loop conjoined to one of the multiple fold segments is disclosed. In illustrated embodiments the foldable tag includes multiple fold segments to form a bi-fold tag or alternatively a tri-fold tag. As disclosed the expandable loop is formed along a portion of an elastomeric sheet that is conjoined with a portion of the foldable tag.Type: GrantFiled: September 28, 2006Date of Patent: November 23, 2010Assignee: Bedford Industries, Inc.Inventors: Justin C. Patent number: 6115993Abstract: The apparatus for intermittently presenting tags for attachment to merchandise has a pay-out tape of tags severable by lines of weakness, drive rollers for intermittently advancing tape from the pay-out roll, breaking rollers that rotate at a greater speed than said drive rollers so as to sever a single tag from the tape at a line of weakness, and holding guide members on opposing sides of a severed single tag for presenting a portion of the tag for attachment to merchandise by a twist tie while temporarily holding the remaining portion between the opposing guide members. A key step of the method is that of presenting a portion of a marking tag in a projecting relationship from the exit of an opposing pair of holding guide members while maintaining the bulk of the marking tag within the opposing holding guide members in a manner permitting easy withdrawal of it, and attaching the projecting portion to the neck of a bag by a twist tie.Type: GrantFiled: October 9, 1998Date of Patent: September 12, 2000Assignee: Bedford Industries, Inc.Inventor: Colin M.
