  • Patent number: 8966967
Abstract: A system for determining a health of a bearing associated with a connecting rod is provided. The system includes a sensor associated with the connecting rod and remotely disposed relative to the bearing of the connecting rod. The sensor is configured to generate a signal indicative of a temperature of the bearing. The system includes a controller communicably coupled to the sensor. The controller is configured to receive the signal indicative of the temperature of the bearing. The controller further determines a health of the bearing as a function of the signal of the temperature of the bearing.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 8, 2013
Date of Patent: March 3, 2015
    Assignee: Caterpillar Inc.
Inventors: Eric D. Wiebrecht, Colin P. Garner, Andrew M. Williams, Michael Gore

  • Publication number: 20110283886
Abstract: The present disclosure refers to a method for regenerating a filter adapted to remove particulate material from a gas. The disclosed method comprises at least producing at least one electric arc discharge pulse, the at least one electric arc discharge pulse being adapted to generate at least one pressure wave so that the particulate material is being dislodged from the filter. In addition, the disclosure refers to a filter regenerating arrangement and a diesel particulate filter.

  • Patent number: 7144448
Abstract: An apparatus for removing particulates from a gas stream is described comprising a filter through which gas may be caused to flow, at least one first electrode for producing an atmospheric glow discharge located near to but spaced apart from the filter, and at least one second counter electrode, the electrodes being connected to an AC voltage supply generating an AC voltage in a frequency within the range of 1 kHz to 200 kHz. A method of removal of particulates from a gas stream comprising causing the gas to flow through such an apparatus is also described.

  • Patent number: 6660068
Abstract: An apparatus for removing particulates from a gas stream is described comprising a filter (1) through which gas may be caused to flow, at least one first electrode (15) for producing an atmospheric glow discharge located near to but spaced apart from the filter, and at least one second counter electrode (19), the electrodes being connected to an AC voltage supply generating an AC voltage in a frequency within the range of 1 kHz to 200 kHz. A method of removal of particulates from a gas stream comprising causing the gas to flow through such an apparatus is also described.
