  • Patent number: 5901787
Abstract: A plug for creating a pressure barrier within an oil or gas well comprises a plug body (5) and a metal primary seal element (7) having a frusto-conical seal face (7A) adapted to engage a corresponding seal surface of a profiled well conduit to create a metal-to-metal seal having a relatively large contact area. The primary seal is energised by pressure applied above the plug, prior to the plug been set by a running tool which operates an actuating member (5) to displace locking keys (4) radially outwards so as to engage corresponding formations in the well profile and lock the plug against axial movement within the well conduit. The plug may be retrieved using a pulling tool and re-used, and includes a secondary elastomeric or polymeric seal (6).

  • Patent number: 5145228
Abstract: A running and pulling tool is disclosed which is releasably connectible to a fishing neck on a well tool. The running pulling tool has an elongate mandrel on which a connector having dogs is slidably mounted for connecting to and releasing the dogs from a fishing neck. The connector is positioned in a first connecting position by a retainer which is moveable to a position permitting movement of the connector to a second position releasing from the fishing neck. A latch releasably positions the retainer in position for retaining the connector in the first position. The running pulling tool may be used to run and anchor a well tool in a well conduit and to retrieve an anchored well tool.

  • Patent number: 4951745
Abstract: An hydraulically actuated stuffing box for use on a lubricator assembly or a grease injector section to seal around flexible line run through the lubricator assembly into an underwater well. The stuffing box has a piston on which control fluid acts, compressing a resilient seal in the stuffing box to seal around the line. The piston is biased to a position not compressing the seal to prevent hydrostatic pressure of the control fluid from compressing the seal to seize the line in deep water. The stuffing box and grease injector section have a through passageway for line. Both have an internal valve, which will automatically prevent surrounding water flow into a well or well outflow into the water when no flexible line is in the passageway.
