  • Patent number: 9359883
Abstract: A production logging tool (PLT) is conveyed within production tubing containing production fluid flow established by zonal fluid flow from formation zones. The PLT measures a flow rate of the production fluid flow at each of a plurality of depths associated with a corresponding one of the zones. A flow rate of the zonal fluid flow from each zone is determined based on the flow rates of the production fluid flow measured at each of the depths. The PLT measures proportions of compositional components of the production fluid flow at each of the depths. A flow rate of each compositional component of the zonal fluid flow from each zone is determined based on the determined flow rate of the zonal fluid flow from each zone and the proportions of compositional components of the production fluid flow measured at each of the depths.

  • Patent number: 9300731
Abstract: An allocated IP address is remapped from a first virtual machine to a second virtual machine while maintaining existing client connections on the first virtual machine. A communication channel is established between the first and second virtual machines, and existing connections associated with the IP address are tracked. Packets addressed to the IP address are forwarded to the second virtual machine instead of the first machine. If the second virtual machine receives a packet that contains a new connection request, the new connection is established with the second virtual machine. However, if the second virtual machine receives a packet that is associated with an existing connection to the first virtual machine, then the packet is forwarded to the first virtual machine via the communication channel.

  • Patent number: 8887280
Abstract: Denial-of-service protection for a computing device on a first network is disclosed. In an embodiment, a packet containing a network address corresponding to a computing device on the first network is received from a source address of a second network by a gateway device. The packet includes a request to initiate a connection to the computing device on the first network. In response, an acknowledgement is transmitted to the source address. The acknowledgement includes sequence information sufficient to establish the requested connection, including a unique identifier. Subsequently received packets addressed to the network address of the computing device are forwarded by the gateway device to a corresponding network address of the computing device on the first network upon verifying a response to the acknowledgement.

  • Publication number: 20120160011
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for determining the steam quality at a subsurface location for a steam injection operation. The methods involve obtaining a total mass flow rate, measuring a vapor velocity at the subsurface location and a second parameter, determining a vapor density from the second parameter when the second parameter comprises a measurement other than a vapor density, generating a vapor mass flow rate as a function of the vapor velocity, the vapor density and the internal cross-section area of the conduit, and generating the steam quality at the subsurface location as a function of the vapor mass flow rate and the total mass flow rate.

  • Publication number: 20120166157
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for interpreting measurements by a meter of defined dimension in a multiphase flow in a conduit in a wellbore. The meter may be a spinner used to obtain measurements at locations in the flow. The measurements may be averaged across a defined dimension, and a measurement model generated. A parameter profile (e.g., velocity) can be generated by curve fitting to the model.

  • Patent number: 7756105
Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed to minimize wasted bandwidth by suppressing communications between a trunking gateway and a media gateway until a telephone service-related signal is detected during an on-hook state. In an embodiment, the trunking gateway and the media gateway are part of a telecommunications network that utilizes a single fabric for both voice traffic and data traffic. For example, the network could transport all traffic via Internet Protocol packets.
