  • Publication number: 20190085746
Abstract: An aftertreatment system for treating a high-volume exhaust flow is provided. The aftertreatment system includes a filter module. The aftertreatment system also includes a conduit in fluid communication with the filter module. The aftertreatment system further includes at least one aftertreatment module in fluid communication with the conduit. The filter module is adapted to selectively receive at least one filter element therein. The at least one filter element is adapted to reduce a backpressure within the aftertreatment system. The filter module is also adapted to provide incremental levels of particulate matter reduction from the exhaust flow based, at least in part, on a number of filter elements therein.

  • Publication number: 20190063298
Abstract: An aftertreatment system for treating a high-volume exhaust flow is provided. The aftertreatment system includes a first module having a first mixing element, and a second module having a second mixing element. The aftertreatment system also includes a main inlet conduit, a first inlet conduit, a second inlet conduit, a first outlet conduit, and a second outlet conduit. Each of the first inlet conduit and the second inlet conduit is adapted to split the exhaust flow downstream of the main inlet conduit into a first stream and a second stream flowing therethrough respectively. The splitting of the exhaust flow is adapted to limit a backpressure within the aftertreatment system. Each of the first mixing element and the second mixing element is adapted to improve a mixing of the first stream and the second stream within the first module and the second module respectively.

  • Publication number: 20180223756
Abstract: A method for operating an aftertreatment system of an engine is disclosed. The method includes measuring, using one or more sensors, at least one operating parameter of the engine system; estimating, by a controller, a mass of hydrocarbon retained by an aftertreatment component using the at least one operating parameter; determining, by the controller, a percent load of hydrocarbon using the mass of hydrocarbon; comparing, by the controller, the percent load to a predetermined hydrocarbon load threshold; and providing at least one alert indicating a need to initiate a stepwise increase in an engine power to one or more predetermined engine speeds for one or more predetermined durations, if the percent load exceeds the predetermined hydrocarbon load threshold.
