    Abstract: A multilayered face-covering is provided with at least two layers and joined with a centrally located merge stitch or nose seam. The outer is a thicker knitted cloth material with a higher thread-weight and/or thread-count than the inner layer to create an increased stiffness on the outer layer that resists compressive buckling. The inner layer is lightweight and provides a comfortable cushion against the user's skin. Face-covering can also include a intermediate layer sandwiched between inner and outer layers. The intermediate layer provides additional filtering of inhaled and/or exhaled particles and enhances the outer layer's rigidity.
