  • Publication number: 20220372826
Abstract: Hydrocarbons are produced from a wellbore using a wand member supported within the top end of the casing and a bailer vessel supported within the casing of the wellbore to reciprocate between (i) a lower position submerged in the hydrocarbon fluids at a predetermined depth within the casing such that fluids enter a production chamber of the bailer vessel and (ii) an upper position receiving the wand member therein through an open top of the bailer vessel so as to force the hydrocarbon fluids in the production chamber under pressure through a bottom opening in the wand member and into a receiving chamber of the wand member. The hydrocarbons in the wand member are then discharged to a location externally of the casing for storage.

  • Patent number: 10053927
Abstract: In a coiled tubing assembly for use in a wellbore, the tubing assembly uses longitudinally spaced apart clamping members to clamp two or more coiled tubing members alongside one another. Each clamping member includes a clamping portion extending circumferentially about each coiled tubing member so as to be rotatable in relation thereto, and a connecting portion joined between the clamping portions. A longitudinal positioning element is fixed relative to one of the tubing members in association with each clamping member such that the clamping member remains pivotal relative to the positioning element and the tubing members upon which it is fixed. The longitudinal positioning element thus only restricts the respective clamping assembly in the longitudinal direction along the tubing members without restricting relative twisting between the tubing members.

  • Patent number: 10024320
Abstract: A hydrocarbon production rotary pump having a stator and a rotor drive to rotate therein by a submersible pump driver is supported so as to be suspended from a wellhead by a support member including production tubing and at least one control line alongside the production tubing. The control line(s) has greater tensile strength in the longitudinal direction of the well casing than the production tubing such that the control line(s) provides greater support to the rotary pump and the submersible pump driver than the production tubing. A unitary casing in the form of a seamless material may fully surround the production tubing and the control line(s) along the full length thereof.

  • Patent number: 9441469
Abstract: In a rotary pump having a rotor and a stator in communication with hydrocarbon production tubing, a submersible pump driver assembly includes a drive motor having an output connected by a drive link to the rotor of the pump. A production housing of the drive assembly includes a production passage receiving the drive link in which the output axis of the drive motor is radially offset from the passage. A control line for providing a drive input to the motor is thus suited to extend alongside the production tubing. The driver assembly thus allows for flushing with only a coiled tubing unit as the coiled tubing can be readily inserted past the offset motor and the motor can be optionally run in reverse to improve flushing.

  • Publication number: 20150028168
Abstract: A coiled tubing assembly for use in a wellbore includes at least two continuous coiled tubing members which are joined by clamp assemblies at longitudinally spaced positions such that the tubing members are adapted to be collectively spoolable on a common drum. Each clamp assembly has a central portion spanning between the spaced apart coiled tubing members and clamping portions joined to the central portion to extend about the tubing members respectively. Each clamping portion is maintained in an elastically stretched state in a circumferential direction about the respective tubing member such that the internal circumference of the clamping portion is arranged to be elastically reduced about the respective tubing member when the tubing member stretches longitudinally in use within a wellbore.

  • Patent number: 7377051
Abstract: A tubing counter for counting coiled tubing inserted into a well includes an outer housing having a through passage for receiving the coiled tubing therethrough. In some embodiments, pressure rated connectors at both of the ends of the outer housing sealably connect the outer housing in series between the coiled tubing injector head and the outer casing of the well. A plurality of counting wheels are rotatably supported within the outer housing for rolling engagement along coiled tubing inserted through the outer housing while a counting mechanism records a number of rotations of each counting wheel independently of the other wheels to minimize counting errors. Locating the counter below the injector head and below the tubing stripper ensures that the tubing is cleaner and less likely to slip in contact with the counting wheels while also accounting for stretching of the tubing for more accurate measurement.
