  • Patent number: 9853835
Abstract: A user equipment configured to operate in a Long Term Evolution (LTE) network. The user equipment comprises transceiver circuitry that operates the user equipment in either of two modes, the two modes comprising: i) a first mode in which the transceiver circuitry performs packet data services in the LTE network and performs voice calls in the LTE network using a Voice over LTE (VoLTE) service; and ii) a second mode in which the transceiver circuitry performs packet data services in the LTE network and performs voice calls in a legacy network. The user equipment also comprises a controller that compares a link quality associated with a radio link to the LTE network to at least one threshold value and, in response to the comparison, controls switching the user equipment between the first mode and the second mode. The controller switches the user equipment from the first mode to the second mode if the link quality falls below a first drop threshold value associated with an RSRP value or an SINR value.

  • Patent number: 8762993
Abstract: The present invention allows CPU utilization for a virtual machine (VM) to be captured from a perspective of a host. Specifically, under the present invention, a work request having a set (e.g., one or more) of jobs is received by a host and allocated to a virtual machine on a node. The work request is typically accompanied by an account identifier such as a multi-value billing code. Once the work request is allocated to a particular VM on the node, a “startacct” script is issued, and a first account record is created. Thereafter, the work request is processed and the CPU utilization needed to complete the set of jobs is monitored. Once the set of jobs is completed, an “endacct” script is issued and a second account record is created. Among other things, the second account record includes the monitored CPU utilization and the account identifier.

  • Publication number: 20050060704
Abstract: Virtual machines are provided on-demand. This on-demand service is beneficial in many situations, including, for instance, providing a virtual machine on-demand to process a request. The virtual machine provided to process the request is exclusive to the request. The on-demand virtual machine is automatically activated by another virtual machine, which has control over the on-demand virtual machine. The controlling virtual machine manages the start-up, provision of resources, and the shut-down of the on-demand virtual machine.
