  • Patent number: 9664528
Abstract: A system is provided for enhancing inertial sensing within a vehicle. The system determines measured rotational rates and translational accelerations of the vehicle using an inertial measurement unit. In addition, the system also determines estimated rotational rates and translational accelerations of the vehicle based on a remote sensing system. The system generates compensated rotational rates and translational accelerations to reduce gain errors or offset errors of the inertial measurement unit based on the estimated rotational rates and translational accelerations.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 27, 2012
Date of Patent: May 30, 2017
    Assignee: AUTOLIV ASP, INC.
Inventors: Colm P. Boran, Edward J. Bedner

  • Patent number: 5544914
Abstract: A control circuit (46) for an air bag disabling system (16,22) includes a resistive test load (66) arranged in parallel with the resistive elements of the air bag (48) and in some embodiments includes a fuse (64) in series with the resistive test load (66), the resistive test load providing for the operation of the vehicle air bag system independent of the disabling effected by the disabling system and the fuse providing indication of operation of the air bag disabling system.

  • Patent number: 5194755
Abstract: A plurality of first accelerometers are positioned forward of the passenger compartment and interconnected between vehicular ground and an airbag ignitor. At least one second accelerometer is positioned with the passenger compartment and electrically connected in series between the airbag ignitor and a reserve source of electrical power thereby providing a first firing path. Electronic circuitry positioned within the passenger compartment and connected to the airbag ignitor provides a second firing path through the ignitor to a passenger compartment ground independent of the vehicular ground which the first accelerometers are connected. This second conductive path is provided for a predetermined or dwell time in response to actuation by any of the first accelerometers. The electrical circuitry also includes prefiltering circuitry.
