    Abstract: Systems and method are presented for controlling the settings of a media renderer, such as a television, in response to available media content and user preferences. The system may include a client terminal connected to the media renderer via a communication channel. The system may be operable to monitor media content available to the media renderer; to obtain user preferences; to compare monitored media content to the user preferences; to select control signals according to the user preferences; and to send the control signals to the media renderer via the communication line thereby adjusting the settings of the media renderer.
