Publication number: 20090042014Abstract: A compressible molded component comprises a compressible cushion member integrally formed with an additional member. The compressible cushion member is comprised of a deformable material formed by an injection molding process. During the molding process, the deformable material is injected in molten form into a core component of a mold, the core component having an array of protrusions. The array of protrusions in the mold forms an array of voids in the compressible cushion member when the component is removed from the mold. The additional member may include a skin member and/or a structural member attached to the compressible cushion member.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 7, 2007Publication date: February 12, 2009Applicant: InnatechInventors: Blake Synnestvedt, Bradley McCardell, David Compeau, Eric Haglund

Patent number: 5364252Abstract: A gas injector having a retractable nozzle with linear gas feed passage therethrough for a gas assist plastics injection molding machine. The injector interfaces with the injection molding tool and has a nozzle with a tip that, in a forward position, protrudes through a port therein leading into the tool cavity or a runner system leading into the cavity for gas injection during molding. The nozzle tip is connected by a nozzle body to a base that is operatively mounted in an actuator housing. The base is connected to an in-line gas routing extension of the nozzle that projects through the outer cover of the housing. The extension is coaxial with an internal spring that seats on the base and holds the nozzle tip in a gas injection position resisting the force of plastics injection pressure.Type: GrantFiled: August 26, 1992Date of Patent: November 15, 1994Assignee: General Motors CorporationInventors: David G. Patent number: 5297405Abstract: A door handle assembly having a snap-in attachment apparatus for assembling a key cylinder to a door handle assembly without the use of separate fasteners and retainers. The door handle assembly has a bored tubular extension that utilizes slots to define tubular sections that yield radially outward upon inserting the key cylinder into the bore of the tubular extension. The tubular sections have openings that receive lugs extending from the periphery of the key cylinder and that prohibit inward axial movement and rotary movement of the key cylinder. A shoulder in the door handle assembly abuts an end of the key cylinder to prohibit outward axial movement of the key cylinder. The engaging surfaces of the lugs and tubular sections have drafted angles that pull the tubular sections radially inward toward the key cylinder upon a push-in force applied to the key cylinder from outside the vehicle and directed toward the center of the vehicle.Type: GrantFiled: January 25, 1993Date of Patent: March 29, 1994Assignee: General Motors CorporationInventors: Steven F. Manning, Compeau, James D. Girard, Joseph E. Mishark
