  • Publication number: 20060268863
Abstract: An address translation method for a LAN (local area network) node using a real Internet protocol (IP) address to deliver and receive transparent application layer packets. First, the IP address of the local node equivalent to the WAN IP address of the router is assigned. Thereafter, the router masquerades ARP responses when the local node looks up MAC addresses of certain destinations, and rewrites the data-link layer header of packets transferred to and from the local node, such that application layer communications are deemed transparent.

  • Publication number: 20060101073
Abstract: A system and method for data integration by querying multiple extensible markup language (XML) source schemas through a common XML target schema, wherein the system comprises XML mapping connections between the XML source schemas and the XML target schema, wherein the XML mapping connections accommodate XML mappings, the XML source schemas comprise data, and the XML target schema comprise a set of constraints, which comprise data merging rules for integrating the data from multiple source schemas comprising overlapping information; a target query associated with the target schema; and a query rewriter adapted to reformulate the target query in terms of the source schemas based on the mappings, and to integrate the data based on the set of constraints. The query rewriter is adapted to rewrite the target query into a set of source queries comprising the source schemas. A processor evaluates a union of the set of source queries.

  • Patent number: 6887384
Abstract: Microfluidic devices comprising porous monolithic polymer for concentration, extraction or mixing of fluids. A method for in situ preparation of monolithic polymers by in situ initiated polymerization of polymer precursors within microchannels of a microfluidic device and their use for solid phase extraction (SPE), preconcentration, concentration and mixing.

  • Publication number: 20040094095
Abstract: A new and improved substrate holder assembly for supporting a substrate in a process chamber for the fabrication of semiconductor integrated circuits on the substrate. The substrate holder assembly comprises an annular shield which is fitted in the process chamber. A dish-shaped substrate holder extends through the center of the shield and includes a pair of outwardly-extending pin support flanges that are disposed beneath the shield. The substrate holder includes an annular substrate support shoulder for supporting the substrate. A substrate clamp of the substrate holder assembly includes a pair of downwardly-extending alignment pins which are inserted through respective pin openings in the shield and are supported by the respective pin support flanges. Accordingly, the alignment pins align and support the substrate clamp slightly above the substrate holder to prevent direct contact of the substrate clamp with the substrate holder thus, the formation of potential device-contaminating particles.

  • Publication number: 20030232203
Abstract: A composition, method and use is disclosed for a porous plug that functions as an electro-osmotic pump. The polymer eliminates any back pressure effects while enhancing the electro-osmotic flow in a channel. The pump is bach fabricated by surface micromachining on top of a silicon wafer. The pump device is driven by an alternating zero-average injected current signal at low frequencies producing a bubble-free electro-osmotic flow with a reversible net movement. The device is capable of an average water-air interface velocity of 1.8 &mgr;m/second at 0.8 Hz. The velocity may be increased from between 4.8-13.9 &mgr;m/second by necking down the channel size.

  • Patent number: 6274686
Abstract: This invention relates to molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) using an amide as the hydrogen bonding functional group. The amide MIPs made according to this invention exhibited enantiomeric recognition of the imprinted species when evaluated by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) even in an aqueous phase. In addition, the amide MIPs demonstrated improved enantiomeric resolution and load capacity.
