  • Patent number: 6913229
Abstract: A management system for wiring and/or cabling is disclosed. The wire management system comprises a base socket, a cable guide assembly, and a base pivot. The cable guide assembly may include a base member and a guide member that may be removably mounted to the base socket. The base pivot may be received within the base member for removably mounting the cable guide assembly to the base socket. The guide member of the cable guide assembly includes a plurality of vertically orientated ribs that assist in orientating the wiring and/or cabling in a generally vertical direction with respect to a heat emitting device so as to minimize the surface area of the wiring and/or cabling that is exposed to a heat emitting device, thereby minimizing heat buildup within an enclosure.

  • Patent number: 6166916
Abstract: An adjustable circuit board support frame utilizes an adjustable frame assembly for receiving various size circuit boards having the desired interface connectors and logic circuits thereon so as to allow for necessary repair, expansion, or upgrade of the computer system. The present invention provides for the removability and replacement of any size circuit board within the computer housing at any time during manufacturing or in the field. A base computer system may be easily upgraded when more features are desired by interchanging the circuit board within the system and adjusting the frame assembly to the desired position.

  • Patent number: 6139213
Abstract: A clamp assembly for removably attaching a drive bay support to a main computer chassis. The clamp assembly includes a clamp support having a hook portion and at least one clamp link for pivotally attaching the clamp support to the drive bay support. The clamp asssembly is in a clamped position when the clamp assembly is pivoted about the drive bay support such that the hook portion of the clamp support engages a hook portion of the main chassis. The clamp assembly is in an unclamped position when the clamp assembly is pivoted about the drive bay support such that the hook portion of the clamp support does not engage the main chassis.

  • Patent number: 5967466
Abstract: A back plane lock down for fastening one or more circuit boards and/or cover plates to the back plane of a computer chassis. The back plane lock down is made of non-electrically conducting material such that the computer need not be powered down when fastening the circuit boards and/or cover plates to the back plane. The back plane lock down includes one or more sections that can be pivotally connected together by using a bracket for accommodating a wide variety of back plane configurations. Each section includes one or more tabs disposed within openings formed by ribs. Each tab includes a downwardly extending projection for insertion into an opening in the back plane to easily fasten each circuit board and cover plate to the back plane without the need for tools.

  • Patent number: 5880932
Abstract: The present invention provides a modular power supply to be used in a personal computer or other similar device. The preferred embodiment of the present invention includes a base assembly, a power supply housing, a power supply, and a fan assembly. The base assembly provides a foundation for the modular power supply and includes a terminal board attached thereto and a system common quick-disconnect embedded therein which serves as a central junction for the distribution of power to the various electrical components. The power supply housing provides a protective structure for the power supply contained therein. The fan assembly provides cooling for the power supply and is mounted on the outside of the power supply housing. The power supply is electrically connected to the system common quick disconnect which in turn feeds the terminal board attached to the base assembly, the fan assembly, and any other components located within the base assembly.

  • Patent number: 5768097
Abstract: A reconfigurable modular computer assembly. The computer assembly comprises a housing having parallel longitudinal guide walls and a main chassis for carrying electronic components. The main chassis is slidably mounted to the housing using bayonet sliders. The main chassis includes a control panel and a cable opening for allowing cables from a transom to pass through to components located in the main chassis. A computer power supply is removably attached to the main chassis. In a preferred embodiment, a 3.5" drive cage sub-chassis and a 5.25" drive cage sub-chassis are removably attached to the main chassis. Alternatively, two 3.5" drive cage sub-chassis can be removably attached to the main chassis. When the main chassis is in a deployed position, the drive cage sub-chassis and power supply can be easily disconnected and removed from the computer assembly for cleaning, replacement or repair without powering down the computer assembly. A face plate is removably attached to the main chassis.
