  • Publication number: 20180349637
Abstract: Embodiments described herein provide a privacy mechanism to protect user data when transmitting the data to a server that estimates a frequency of such data amongst a set of client devices. One embodiment uses a differential privacy mechanism to enhance a user experience by inferring potential user preferences from analyzing crowdsourced user interaction data. Based on a statistical analysis of user interactions in relation to various features or events, development efforts with respect to application behavior may be refined or enhanced. For example, user interactions in relation to the presentation of content such as content from online sources may be analyzed. Accordingly, presentation settings or preferences may be defined based on the crowdsourced user interaction data.

  • Patent number: 10051168
Abstract: A method of automatically activating a camera application implemented in a mobile device in locked mode starts with the processor receiving a first signal from an accelerometer. The device's processor activates the camera application when the processor determines that the mobile device has remained in a stationary portrait or landscape position for a period of time based on the first signal. Activating the camera application includes signaling by the processor to the display device to display a camera screen from a locked screen. The processor may also receive a second signal from a proximity sensor that detects presence of a nearby object to the mobile device. When the processor determines that there is presence of the nearby object to the mobile device based on the second signal, the mobile device remains in locked mode and the processor does not activate the camera application.

  • Patent number: 10037216
Abstract: Systems and methods for disabling one or more plugins associated with a browser application are provided. In one exemplary method, a plugin is installed on an electronic device, and the device receives data from a data source, where that data is associated with the installed plugin. Whether the installed plugin meets a disabling criteria is determined. In accordance with a determination that that the installed plugin meets a disabling criteria: performance of a function with the installed plugin is foregone; and it is reported to the data source that the installed plugin is not installed on the electronic device. In accordance with a determination that the installed plugin does not meet the disabling criteria, the function is performed with the installed plugin.

  • Publication number: 20150347358
Abstract: Embodiments of processes and systems relate to browser-based enhancements, including a user interface that is configured for concurrently displaying two different categories of webpages for a user, and their corresponding icons. A first icons area has icons representing a first category of webpages based on the browser activity of the user and a second icons areas has non-duplicate icons representing webpages in a second category of webpages selected in response to a user designation. A control allows for replacing the second plurality of icons with a third plurality of icons based on a frequency and recency algorithm for the browser activity.
