  • Patent number: 5129171
Abstract: A device for zone-by-zone tensioning of a flat material, especially an embroidery hoop. According to one possible solution, tensioning and clamping are brought about by a change in the circumferential length of a tensioning member that can be filled, by a gas or a fluid and another solution brings this about by twisting a tensioning member. To generate a strong tensioning force in the material, it is proposed in the first solution that the tensioning member be designed as a crease-free tube with a body. By selecting a cord angle of the body, tensioning can be achieved by increasing or decreasing the pressure and by increasing or decreasing the circumferential length. According to another solution, the tensioning member is designed as a torsion body that can be twisted in itself, preferably as a reinforced hollow body, which may also form a closed ring. To increase the tensioning force without unduly stressing the material, the device is designed with a rigid outer ring and a twistable inner ring.

  • Patent number: 4704928
Abstract: A device for aligning and cutting lengths of terrycloth along the woof thread comprises two aligning ledges capable of movement relative to one another that can be lowered into the pileless rows of the length of material. The aligning ledges are connected each with one of two diagonally opposite joints of a parallelogram frame. On the two intervening joints is mounted a cutting device that operates transverse to the direction of feed of the length of material with a cutting plane that is always located exactly in the middle between the two aligning ledges.

  • Patent number: 4660486
Abstract: A device for forming a doubly turned hem on lengths of fabric with a folding sleeve, in the inner space of which a flexible sheet is provided as auxiliary folding device, which presses the fabric against the guiding surface of the folding sleeve and, as the start of fabric is pushed through the folding sleeve, constantly follows its cross-sectional shape. The effective area of the auxiliary folding device can have a fur-like surface, the pile of which is aligned in the direction of advance of the material to be sewn. In order to open a gap for the unimpeded introduction of the edge of the fabric, a shaped metal plate, by means of which the auxiliary folding device is coiled, is movable between the guiding surface of the folding sleeve and the auxiliary folding device.

  • Patent number: 4615432
Abstract: In a device for the transport of workpieces of flexible materials which are to be supplied to a treatment station in a coil for treating their longitudinal edges and the workpiece in the form of a coil from which a portion to be treated projects is sent, or positioned on, a transport device which includes a transport trough which receives the coil. The trough is provided on one or both long sides with a supporting bending edge and a bearing surface arranged vertically below it. A coiled workpiece may be transported by the device at high speed and moved to align its longitudinal edge or edges to be treated at various work stations without difficulty.

  • Patent number: 4605179
Abstract: In an apparatus for winding up flat material webs or foils, by means of a rotary winding cylinder, the cylinder is provided with a longitudinal slot and which accommodates a clamping device and by which a portion of the web to be wound up and introduced through the slot by means of a vertically movable blade which causes the web to be seized and firmly held. Upon finishing a roll, the seized portion of the web is disengaged and the roll can be withdrawn by means of a take-off device. This makes it possible to wind up the web at a high speed without forming folds. Also, the laps of the formed roll are very firmly wound and their edges are throughout in a definite position so that they may be heated in a working station.

  • Patent number: 4068603
Abstract: An apparatus for forming a double tuck on a lateral edge of a length of material web comprises a U-shape folding bar for supporting the material at a spaced location from the edge of the material and which includes a lower leg and an upper leg interconnected by a web or yoke. A stave is mounted for upward and downward motion adjacent the folding bar in a plane spaced from the yoke portion by the thickness of the web and being movable downwardly for folding the lateral edge about the yoke portion. A fold slide is mounted for transverse movement in a plane adjacent to and spaced from the lower leg by the thickness of the web and it is movable toward the lower leg for folding the lateral edge against the lower surface of the lower leg.

  • Patent number: 4034634
Abstract: An apparatus or system for the aligning and severing of fabric webs which have a thickness differing in the longitudinal direction, for example a terry cloth fabric with napless lanes extending crosswise to the longitudinal direction and lanes which have a nap arranged in an alternate pattern comprises aligning means which cooperate with the boundary areas between adjacent lanes of the fabric web and which extend crosswise to the web pull off direction. A cutting device is arranged crosswise to the web pull off direction at a location after the aligning means and braking means in the form of individually adjustable brake elements which extend across the width of the fabric are arranged between the aligning means and the reel supply of the fabric material.
