  • Patent number: 5544035
Abstract: A converter circuit arrangement is specified which is constructed to have a particularly low inductance. This is achieved by the circuit area of the commutation circuit being kept as small as possible. A circuit area which is as small as possible is achieved by the branch modules and switch modules of a phase module being arranged either in a U-shape or in a meandering shape. The branch modules can be arranged either parallel to or at right angles to a main direction, between the positive and negative connections and the load connection. In addition, it is advantageous if the power semiconductor switches and the reverse-connected parallel diodes and freewheeling diodes are arranged in separate stacks which are held together by means of a clamping-in device.

  • Patent number: 4434417
Abstract: A liquid-cooled power resistor contains at least one resistive conductor which is arranged in a closed housing directly in de-ionized water employed as the cooling liquid or coolant. The resistive conductor is advantageously secured in diaphragms which not only serve as holding facilities for holding the resistive conductor, but also deflect or turn the cooling liquid. The resistive conductor is normally connected to two terminal pins. There also can be used a third terminal pin which taps the center or mid-point of the resistive conductor, so that there are available two ohmic values of the power resistor. The power resistor ensures for an effective and uniform removal of heat or thermal energy and possesses a high thermal capacity. The arrangement has a low inductance. The power resistor is particularly suitable for the wiring of thyristors in static converter installations.

  • Patent number: 4051509
Abstract: An apparatus for cooling electrical devices which are at different electrical potentials by means of a flowing medium, preferably water, wherein the potential difference prevailing between those electrically conductive devices exhibiting the greatest potential difference drops at control electrodes. These control electrodes essentially possess the same potential as the associated electrically conductive devices. The remaining electrically conductive devices are arranged parallel to the aforementioned electrically conductive devices between the control electrodes at equipotential points relative to their own potential.

  • Patent number: 4037045
Abstract: An apparatus for cooling electrical devices by means of a flowing medium, comprising auxiliary electrodes arranged to both sides of an electrical device to be cooled and to both sides of further devices of an active recirculation cooling system. The electrical device to be cooled is at a first potential and the further devices at a second potential. The auxiliary electrodes are at least partially located in branch conduits branching-off main conduit means of the recirculation cooling system.
