  • Patent number: 5450672
Abstract: A flexible material wall trimming tool (10) cuts flexible material (32) such as flexible flooring material and flexible wall cove material at the intersection of a floor (34) and a wall (35). An elongate low profile block body (12) is formed with a bevel angle pusher surface (15) at the back end (14) of the block body (12) for pushing the wall trimming tool in the elongate cutting direction (18) using the palm of a hand. The bevel angle pusher surface (15) delivers force components downward against the floor (34) and sideways against the wall (35) for accurate cutting. A blade slot (20) is formed on the cutting side (28) of the block body (12) near the back end (14). The blade slot (20) is also formed at a compound angle. A blade holder (24) rigidly clamps a blade (22) in the blade slot (20) at the compound angle. A tool angle trim adjuster (42) is slidably received in a tool angle trim slot (40) on the opposite side (38) of the block body (12) from the cutting side (28).

  • Patent number: 5189795
Abstract: A tool for trimming edge portions of linoleum to fit against a bordering wall has leading and trailing ends and a downwardly opening throat which extends lengthwise of the tool and opens through the ends thereof. The throat is dimensioned to enable an edge portion of the thickest and stiffest linoleum to be entered in and pass through the throat and be held upwardly curved against the outer wall of the throat as the tool is advanced along the wall with spaced edge portions in engagement with the wall at its junction with the floor or a covering thereon and disposed to hold the front of the tool out of contact with the wall or a baseboard. The tool has a holder for a blade exposed in the throat in the trailing end and disposed to sever the edge portion against the outer or front wall of the throat as the tool is advanced.

  • Patent number: 4860723
Abstract: A tile spacing gauge for gauging the space for a last row of tiles is also a tile holder that is coupled to a tile cutter so that the tile spacing gauge forms an integral component of the tile cutter. Tiles for the last row are held in position at a butting edge of the tile spacing gauge for scoring by the tile cutter along a line set by the tile spacing gauge without requiring an intermediate step of actually measuring and marking the tiles. In the described example, an elongate frame cross arm of the tile spacing gauge is formed with brackets spaced apart at either end. The brackets slideably receive elongate gauge arms in parallel with each other and at right angles to the frame cross arm. Positioning of the gauge arms affords parallel and independent measurement of distances from reference edges on the brackets placed against the second to last row of installed tiles to a boundary. The independent measurements take account of "out of square" wall frames and structures.

  • Patent number: 4648181
Abstract: A precision linoleum seam cutting tool cuts the overlying layer of linoleum to be installed next to an underlying layer of linoleum previously installed on a floor to provide a flush straight flat seam in a single step. The elongate tool body is constructed and arranged for grasping and moving the tool in the elongate direction. A pair of adjustable spaced apart guides are mounted on the tool body with a first aiming guide at the lead end and a second blade guide at the trailing end where the linoleum scoring blade and cutting blade are positioned. The guides define channels or recesses for receiving the overlying or next layer of linoleum to be cut and installed and are formed with an edge follower for abutting against and riding along the edge of the underlying layer of linoleum for aiming and guiding the tool.
