  • Patent number: 12534977
Abstract: A well apparatus for pressure control in a tubular string includes: a frangible disc seal for holding pressure; a structure slideably moveable within the inner bore of a body of the apparatus; a plurality of pins coupled between the body and the structure for holding the structure in place until a force applied against the structure exceeds a threshold force selected to overcome the plurality of pins, the structure being moveable to slide within the inner bore when the plurality of pins are overcome, wherein the apparatus is field-adjustable including a plurality of tool access ports extending from an outer surface of the tubular body through the tubular body, each tool access port positioned to permit access from the outer surface to a pin of the plurality of pins, to enable removal, replacement or refitting of the pin via the access port in the body.

  • Publication number: 20240183246
Abstract: In well bores with included tubulars, it is often desirable to segregate a portion of the wellbore's pressure-driven fluid flowpath in the conduit portion formed by included tubulars to permit work to be completed in a pressure-controlled portion of that flowpath. The subassembly and included frangible device provided here does so with minimal exposure of seals to well fluid environments, and provides a field-adjustable variability to the pressure differentials required to open the conduit by removal of the frangible sealing device from the flowpath into which the subassembly is installed or included.

  • Patent number: 11105182
Abstract: A compact rotary surface jack with a driven rotary hanger flange on an upper travelling plate of the jack is provided by the invention; the jack is preferably a horseshoe jack. Capabilities to work on the well such as rotating and reciprocating while cementing casing in place in the well, or setting or unsetting in-hole devices such as packers, anchors and bridge plugs (etc.) by providing low speed (1-6 rpm) rotational force and short (1-6 feet) linear vertical forces to tubulars in a well to which the device is attached, are enabled.

  • Patent number: 10316979
Abstract: A one-time-use pressure-actuated conduit closure is provided, to selectively withstand fluid pressure from one side of the device until the closure is removed remotely, the closure device being a frangible dome designed to withstand fluid pressures from one side but to rupture upon application of higher pressure on its other side, which provides a mechanism to isolate downhole fluid under (high) pressures in part of a well during operations for a period of time selected by an operator, and then to remove the isolation by breaking the rupture dome remotely by application of extra fluid pressure or other forces from surface. The frangible dome has features in at least one surface to guide and control its breakage to provide controlled shard sizes and shapes and a predictable opening for minimal obstruction of the conduit when broken away.

  • Patent number: 9945191
Abstract: A jack and push/pull apparatus is provided by attaching to a wellhead an extendable/contractible horseshoe-shaped jack assembly of sufficient diameter to surround and act upon the tubing or casing to be manipulated in the well, the linear action of the assembly being powered between an extended and a retracted position, the assembly having at least one tube-gripping mechanism at the end of the assembly away from the wellhead attachment. Tubing is inserted into the well bore through the assembly and the wellhead, and when injection forces are desired tube-gripping means grip the tubing being injected and the apparatus is powered to a retracted position, forcing the grasped tubing into the well. The operation may be reversed to pull tubing or casing. The assembly can be simply added to the rig while tubing is present on and above the rig's floor.
