  • Patent number: 8196804
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for soldering components, in particular heat exchanger, in particular made of aluminum materials, aluminum alloys or wrought alloys, in a soldering furnace, in particular a continuous soldering furnace or a batch-type soldering furnace, which comprises a muffle, which is flushed with protective gas in order to create a protective atmosphere. In order to make the production of soldered components easier, during the soldering of the components the muffle is supplied with such a greatly increased amount of gas, in particular protective gas or reaction gas, that a low-oxygen protective atmosphere is created.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 13, 2007
Date of Patent: June 12, 2012
Assignee: Behr GmbH & Co. KG
Inventors: Bradley David Abell, Klaus Dieter Förster, Bernd Grünenwald, Andreas Jenseit, Cord Völker
  • Patent number: 8136716
Abstract: The invention relates to a soldering work piece made of aluminium and/or aluminium compounds, to a soldering method, in addition to a heat exchanger soldered in said manner. One surface of the soldering work piece is provided with an artificially applied oxide layer.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 23, 2010
Date of Patent: March 20, 2012
Assignee: Behr GmbH & Co. KG

  • Publication number: 20080237311
Abstract: The invention relates to a plant and a method for the production of soldered components, in particular of heat exchangers, from light metal, in particular from aluminum materials, under protective gas, with a continuous soldering furnace or a chamber soldering furnace, which is designed as a muffle which is formed from a muffle material. In order to simplify and to improve the production of soldered components, the muffle is formed at least partially from a special muffle material which reacts with oxygen or with oxygen-containing compounds or binds oxygen or oxygen-containing compounds, in order to solder components consisting of light metal, in particular of aluminum materials, in a materially integral manner without the use of fluxes or with markedly reduced flux quantities.

  • Publication number: 20050006066
Abstract: The invention relates to a heat exchanger, preferably a charge-air cooler for motor vehicles, comprising: first members defining a plurality of passageways for guiding a first fluid in heat exchange relationship with a second fluid flowing over the outside of the members defining the passageways, and at least one second member forming a part of the heat exchanger structure in contact with either the first or second fluid, wherein at least one of the first members and the second member is comprised of a steel strip bearing at least one surface layer of aluminum and/or a brazing material.
