  • Patent number: 12115383
Abstract: Provided herein are, for example, systems and methods of diagnosing and treating depression, in which a transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) therapy is administered to a subject in need thereof and measuring a TMS evoked response in the subject, are provided. The systems and methods allow tailoring or optimizing of a treatment protocol for maximal individual benefit, thereby providing an individualized and optimized treatment protocol for psychiatric disorders such as depression.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: October 15, 2024
Assignees: THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE LELAND STANFORD JUNIOR UNIVERSITY, THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT AS REPRESENTED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS AFFAIRS
Inventors: Amit Etkin, Corey Keller, Wei Wu
  • Publication number: 20240285964
Abstract: Systems and methods for sensory entrained TMS in accordance with embodiments of the invention are illustrated. One embodiment includes a method for transcranial magnetic stimulation, including identifying a beat offset in a music track that when played for a patient is associated with desynchronization of alpha waves and synchronization of beta waves of the patient, playing back the music track for the patient, and providing transcranial magnetic stimulation pulses using a transcranial magnetic stimulation device to the patient, where the pulses are delivered a time equal to the beat offset with respect to beats in the music track.

  • Patent number: 11577090
Abstract: A method for machine learning based artifact rejection is provided. The method may include applying a machine learning model to identify artefactual independent components in transcranial magnetic stimulation electroencephalogram data collected during a transcranial magnetic stimulation procedure. Clean transcranial magnetic stimulation electroencephalogram data is generated by removing, from the transcranial magnetic stimulation electroencephalogram data, the artefactual independent components. Real-time adjustments to parameters of the transcranial magnetic stimulation procedure may be performed based on the clean transcranial magnetic stimulation electroencephalogram data. Related systems and articles of manufacture, including computer program products, are also provided.
